Ok, What do you "dislike" about your 997?

Here are my quams.

1) The new key looks way better but the buttons are waaaay too sensitive. I come out to my garage, or work to find my hood popped all of the time.

2) My non- Bose speakers SUCK. Those ordering new cars do yourself a favor and check the BOSE box.

3) The new door pockets are too small compared to the old ones. I cant fit as much crap.

4) I want my oil dipstick back!

5) The auto up passenger side window button has to be held down untill the last 3 inches till closing. What is the point of auto up?

6) Cant they make homelink less complicated?

enough for now...

The grease lines on the windows can be resolved by cleaning the window pads on the inside of the door, which obviously rest on the window.

I agree with the dipstick idea or make the countdown timer shorter, takes forever to check and add oil.

Am I the only one who doesn't know if my car doors are locked or not? The car flashes its lights when you lock it and it flashes when you unlock it, but there's no audible cue. A little beep for locked might be a good idea.

I also don't like the self popping hood when I grab my keys.

I find first gear hard to engage.

I wish it defaulted into sport mode rather than comfort mode on the Sport Chronos package.

I don't like the silver and goldish/silver paint scheme of the interior. The silver plastic bits are cheap looking.

How come every US 997 has a big center display?

My 996 also had the grease stain on the windows. The 997 continues this tradition.

My 993/996/997 all have horrible turbulence with the sunroof opened. I must open a slit in my window to avoid this nuisance.

The slot in front of the shifter is hard to access. I don't keep anything in it because when I park, I put the car into first and it blocks the storage slots perfectly.

Don't like cup holders in the 911.

Why bother with jump seats? Nobody fits back there and they make a loud thud when I go over bumps.

How come the dealer quotes $3500 for a CD changer to be retrofitted to my car? WTF?

Other than that, I absolutely love my 997. Sold my 993 prematurely, will not make that mistake with the 997.

1. I wish the car would be beep when i locked it.
2. I think the car could be faster .. I think I should shift to the turbo.
3. No Ipod Support
4. Bose speakers are far from good
5. No Spare.

Things I don't like:
1. Buttons to change radio stations or CD tracks are too small
2. Remote doesn't have lock and unlock buttons - makes you look at car for flashing lights
3. Cup holders are sooooo small, they're useless most times (even for a small bottle of water)
4. No bluetooth support for phone
5. Passenger window - auto up only activates after 1/2 way up - why bother with an auto up feature
6. First gear is sometimes hard to engage - I throw it into 2nd first then into 1st
7. Waiting 20 minutes after running engine to check oil - maybe this is a good thing and gives a more accurate reading, not sure.
8. To use Nav only, I must then mute or turn volume fully off on the radio/CD to use Nav without radio. Requiring that the radio go on when I only want Nav is dumb.

I'll think of more stuff later...

The service department tried that but they're still there...

and they say it's an issue that every Porsche owner must live with.

-cup holders suck.
-need audible alarm confirmation
-sensitive hood unlock on key
-scroll and push style ***** on PCM

Note on long oil check times: This usually only happens after you've run the car and then try to check the oil. If you check the car before starting it, the oil meter takes 15 seconds or less.

The thing that bothers me the most is the lack of a beep when locking the car. On most cars that I have experienced, you can change that. I guess not on this Porsche

Agreed 100%

I hate how the hood pops open all the time. The key looks a little better but it's cheap plastic and doesn't feel as nice as my 996 key. Even VW has a better design for their keys. I also wish the car beeped when locked. It's hard to see the lights flashing sometimes when you have sunglasses on or even without sunglasses in bright sunlight. It also looks stupid when you walk away from your car and keep looking back to see if the lights are flashing. It makes people think that you are admiring your car as you walk away or something.

There is a way to make your car beep though. I have not tried it on my 997 but it did work on my 996. If you leave the center armrest open when you leave, the car should beep when you lock it to indicate an open sensor. The one other complaint that I have is the lack of automatic lights on a car at this price. The car has pathway lighting when you leave the car at night so it already has a timer and light sensor. What's up with that?

One thing's for sure, the drive quality sure as hell makes up for a lot of this stuff.
