Need price coaching.

I am going to try to buy a leftover 06' sometime in the next 60 days or so and I am thinking I want to try and time it so there are a few 06's laying around when the first shipment of 07's show up. I think that should probably be last part of August first part of September???? Does that sound right? I am hoping for a very substantial discount 6K or more.

Does the timing and discount make sense? should I expect more or less. Your input is much appreciated.

depends on which model, but my understanding is that dealer don't really have that many 997S on the lot anyway (in socal). so i am not sure if you will get that much saving, or choice. also, if you are leasing, definitely not much saving getting a 06 over 07. but good luck. it will be worth it no matter how much you end up spend.

As far as timing goes, all sales organizations are motivated to close business on 30 day, quarterly and annual cycles. If possible, you may benefit by timing any larger type purchase the end of these cycles as this can play in your favor. Again, this is just talking about timing. Other elements of the sale will exist. Ex: Supply and demand.
Good luck!

From what I have seen, the 997S has in some cases put down some very impressive times. I also think it will be driver dependent in which case I will try not to make you feel bad.

I got shy of 10% off on a 997S Cab June 30th in Tampa. The rest will be made up with Porsche swag! Car is on it's way via dealer trade. Delivery in Wednesday. They were eager to sell and I've been at it since April.
I'd say go make your deal between now and the next 4 weeks. If you are not too picky on color and options then you might be able to wait until September or so. Keep a watch out at your local dealers and visit them, talk to them and you will be able to gauge how fast the 2006's are moving out. Don't wait too long and miss out on a great deal though. Have fun playing the game.

end of the cycle

I purchased my 997 S cab on the last day on the month and got 7K off. It is always a good idea to buy at the end of the month

I got 7.5% off a car I ordered and took delivery of last month. A car on the lot I'd ask for 10% off. If you aren't too picky about options, call around and tell them you are serious. Usually they won't negotiate over the phone unless you can convince them you want to buy RIGHT NOW. Porsche profit is approx 15% on each car.

I've seen as low as a few thousand over invoice (around 3k). I went with a little higher than that but it was still comparable once you factored in the car transport fees and a little for the hastle/stress of buying from across the country. I had a semi-decent relationship with my local guy and I politely made it clear he would have to come close or else I would probably go with a long distance purchase to save a few thousand. PM me for info if you're interested in an east coast purchase, I can refer you.
