997S questions

Now that I have finally put 4k miles on my car and have had it for 10 months, I have a couple of issues.

I have noticed that when I launch from a standstill, I get some valve knocking if I don't have the revs high enough. Is this normal? I use premuim gas as instructed and it never does it if I give it more revs but it seems like I need to slip the clutch quite a bit more than I normally would. If I get what I consider to be a "perfect launch" for normal acceleration, it makes that sound like I am bogging the engine. This can't be good for the engine but at the same time, it's a normal launch for me.

I also noticed that whether in sport or reg mode, the car has a hesitation on acceleration. Like it loads up on fuel like it wants to bog and then jerks to accelerate. It might be just my driving but I was wondering if any of you guys have experienced this. This may be related to the first issue.

Also, I remember seeing a post about the left side exhaust tips having more soot or black exhaust residue than the right side. I am noticing that with my car. Did anyone take their car in for this?

Looks like I need to make an appointment.

I have had this issue on other cars ... its usually the cars ecu (learned a certain way of driving). You could try reseting it (unplugging the battery) and seeing if that solves your issue.

What makes you think it's the valves ?

Geez, none of this stuff sounds too good. Have you tried driving another 997 to see if it's just your car?

2thfixer, I have had similar problems.
I also just noticed a more pronounced clicking sound that I can also feel when I depress the clutch. Previously it was like a squeaky sound that I mentioned to the dealer and he said it was normal.
please tell us what you find out.

I guess I will call tomorrow for an appt. As far as clicking sound when depressing the clutch, that may be a noisy switch. The clutch has a switch on it to let the car know that you are in neutral prior to cranking the engine. I don't think I have that sound but I will double check in the morning.

My Sienna is in the shop because of an A/C issue and exhaust rattle. My wife's car went in last month because the Command system had to be replaced. My Porsche is on the fritz. My GL has a rough 2nd gear downshift when rolling to a stoplight. The only reliable car I have is the one that's not supposed to be reliable, my 745Li!!!! My Walther PPK is jamming. My Gamo is jamming. What's next, a pigeon is going to fly over and **** on my head?!?!?!

2thfixr I have that same stutter in first from a standing start as well. pedal wll go a 1/2 of the way down without any power going to the wheels and then the car lurches off. I wonder if this has anything to do with PSM since I don't notice it as much when the PSM is manually switched off.

I have a GIAC flash but noticed the same issue before I had it done.

any info/solution you come across, please post.
