997S vs SC Mustang Cobra

Hey just wanted to know where our cars stand against one of these as far as straight line performance. If any one has any thoughts or experiences please share. I had a little run in with one last night, I will share the "results" after some input.

From Zero the 997S would win, I am not sure about the S/C mustang if its properly tuned from a roll I think the Mustang would win its got loads of torque compared to the 997S.

With a pulley, an exhaust and a chip, the Mustang will kill you in a drag race... It is ridiculously easy to mod - it'll all be down to traction, but even if you get a jump, it'll make almost 500whp and catch you. Sad but true...

How about, lets say a 3rd gear roll. Dont those do like low 12 sec passes in the 1/4 stock.

It will be even worse from a 3rd gear roll unless you're going over 150mph... From 60-70 to 120, the Cobra would win. Who cares about a hypothetical drag race anyway? I've owned a Mustang Cobra - I love my 997S about 1,000,000x more.

Well we actually went at a 3rd gear roll, And suprisingly i was right ther with it, and he even had a little head start. He was creeping away very very slowly, didnt even have half a car on me.
I was expecting to get blown away since i had a c5z06 before my 997S and evryone use to compare the sc cobra to the Z06 as far as straight line performance goes; And my Z06 felt way faster them my 997S.

It's not so surprising if the Cobra was stock - 390 hp vs. 355 hp and the Mustang weighs a lot more. I just have yet to see a stock '03 Cobra - almost every single one has the exhaust/pulley/chip mods done.

I raced one and it was the best race I've ever had... but I still one pretty decisively. This one was a convertible, but it also had ALL the work done (he chased me down and we talked a bit). He said he was putting 650HP+ down at the wheels. Then again, I'm supercharged which makes my comments useless.

I dont know, I was still suprised. Those car are vastly underated too, theyre more likely to have around 420 - 440 stock. The coupe weighs around 3600 lbs and my car weighs around 3200. Although this might be a significnt difference, those cars have ****loads of power and torque and are proven to be really fast cars.

I have a 03 Cobra and a 02 TT Porsche. The Cobra has 565 RWHP and to date has not lost a street race. I will be putting it up against my TT as soon as I get some tires for the Cobra. The Cobra's are easy to get 500 RWHP out of and for very little money. Mine has MM coil overs and is not to bad when the road turns. I say If you run one bring your A game.
