evo sc vs. tpc sc vs. ruf sc +10k

Love my EVO SC. About 7,000 miles on it so far. Zero problems. Linear power. Looks OEM. Drives OEM. Flawless and fast. I looked at the RUF kit, but it was significantly more money and offered significantly less power. No arguing with RUF's quality, but I wanted a dramatic difference in power. I wasn't that price sensitive, but I wanted to make this thing fly. Also, EVO gives you a warranty as well, and they are great to work with. I recommend them wholeheartedly, although as DD has pointed out, be sure and get a good installer.
The Ruf is the class of the respective tuners imo, I almost had my C4S shipped down until I decided to just 'pay myself first' and get what I really wanted, a newTT. My case would have been a bit more than 25k, as I had a ton of miles and would need a rebuild to get the warranty, just too much to drop on the old 996 for me.
If you're really serious, a Ruf is tempting, but 25k is a nice deposit on a new TT as Dog has elluded.
FYI, I'm not sure evo warranties your engine,( just the sc), I think only Ruf does that.

i've been in a tpc car. it is loud. really loud. it is very fast though. their fuel delivery and tuning setup is a bit sketchy though. the tpc intake is much easier to get at than the evo though. evo buries the intake up in the right rear fender.
my problems were all installer related. my dealer had a motorsports dept salesperson who was writing checks with his mouth that his *** couldn't cash. they had very little experience with these setups and it eventually became painfully clear. no worries though. evo was very good about it. i have an another EVO dealer in my area. i drove the car to them (the car was always driveable even when it wasn't fully functioning) and from there out it's been great. EVO picked up the expense for the repairs too. nothing but good things to say so far. 425 to the wheels isn't too shabby for half the price of the RUF. not to mention it's fun to pop the bonnet at shows so everyone can see what I paid for

as far as RUF dumping your exhaust, it is my understand the only thing they change out and include are the high flow cats. i could be wrong, but i believe you supply your own headers and mufflers or buy theirs if you choose to do so...
just remember, EVO's warranty is on the kit, not the car. RUF gives a 2year warranty on the motor, but essentially you've just paid for that new engine up front with the 25K and they're just gambling that you won't need it

the RUF is very nice. it's price point is just a little riddiculous when compared to the type of car it's going into. 25K into a F430 or murci. sure, why not? 25K for just a hop up mod into a 996/7, nah... that is probably why i only know of two of these installed in the US. one is a RUF employee and the other is that guy on Rennlist. evo is well into the 110 plus kits at this point. i'm guessing TPC is probably less than 10, maybe 20.
I hope this isn't too off topic, but I have noticed an Evo 997 on Ebay listed several times. It doesn't seem like anyone wants it, even with all of the mods and priced in the mid to high 60's. Just curious if there are different types of Evo s/c systems, with some more desirable than others or are they all the same?
Thanks!

That is peculiar to all modded cars - most people want to buy unmolested, unmodded cars because there is a perception (and usually accurate) that modded cars are beat on more often. A good exception is illM3's Ruf - it has top-notch mods, known history, etc.

Just an idea.
But I guess the EVO kit is easier to de-install
Ok, once more in to the breach. This supercharger subject has been beat to death but I will weigh in again.
I have 19,000 miles on my EVO SC and performance has been flawless. I have driven both TPC and EVO SC systems and much prefer the EVO. While the Ruf SC is no doubt a quality system, there have only been a handful of installs, (less than 20?) and the cost is prohibitive in my book. I would rather have a TT than spend $25 k on a Ruf SC. As has been said, if you are paying $15 k over market for a product, they should provide a warranty.
The truth is, EVO doesn't need a warranty. There have been approx 125 installs and there have not been ANY engine issues that would have required a factory warranty coverage. Any issues that have come up have been properly and promptly handled by Evo. The SC system is a reliable, safe and relatively benign modification to an engine provided recommended bost pressures are not exceeded. So if you want Porsche performance and sound and don't want to spend TT dollars but still want X-50 performance, get a an EVO SC. You will not regret it.
