evo sc vs. tpc sc vs. ruf sc +10k
i've been looking into a sc i have not made up my mind i see that most guys have the evo or tpc. i cant say that i've heard anybody with the ruf.after talking with all three i was most impressed with the ruf.....ok its 10k more but i'm looking at the whole picture,if i loose my warranty i want somebody backing their product up.[2 year 24k miles]on the flip side of that i was told if anything happened to the evo or tpc it,s a matter of removing it no biggie.[only the 2k in labor]so ! any advice? my biggest concern is reliability.if anybody has a ruf i would like to hear from them, likewise on tpc and evo, especially the guys who have had there sc for a while.thanks in advanced

why would you spend $25K on a blower kit when you could just get a TT?
not to mention you have to factor in getting your car to RUF for the install and then the huge pain in the *** it will be when something goes wrong and they have to start flying techs in or shipping you car back to RUF.
the ruf kit is a wonderful excercise in design, but financially doesn't make sense and the support end is just too cumbersome with only one service center in the US. unless of course you live in Dallas

Also, if you figure the cost of the depreciation loss on a 997S, coupled with the Ruf kit, it's still cheaper than upgrading to a Turbo. I have been doing the math since I'm considering the the Turbo now... I just know I'll get sodomized when I try to get rid of the S.
There are numerous magazines that have tried and tested the RUF R Kompressor. I can only recommend you try and find a few of them, I can't remember anything negative they pointed out.
0-200 km/h in about 13 secs, not very far away from the 997T actually!
Installation can be done locally, regardless of what others are saying. Not too long ago they installed a kit on a tropical island (don't know the name in English).
I have driven the 997S Kompressor, great car. Check here for more info and pics. http://www.rs6.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9094
You're greatest concern is reliability. I wouldn't worry.
I drove a 996 C4 Conv Tip back from Germany to Sweden, 2 day drive.
The only problem I had was that the petrol meter was broken so I was left stranded once but rescued by ADAC Highway patrol.
I had 318 km/h on the Autobahn, before I had to slow down. Still the fastest I've travelled on 4 wheels.
The car is now 1 yr after installation and the owner is very happy. He had the car for 2 hours then called me. His first words, after he stopped laughing, was "you've given me a supercar."
Perhaps not a supercar imo, yet very fast, but he still calls it his supercar.
His friend who owns a similar 996 was very surprised when they went side by side. The RUF car still looks 100% original.
I can recommend the sports exhaust in combo with the SC.

i bought mine for $40K under the sticker and it was less than 2 years old with 8K miles. with the massive production of 996's compared to 993's, it easier to find the exact car you want for a lot less money.02 TT's can be had for low 60's at this point. i was suggesting getting rid of your 997 and getting a low mileage 996TT. you could sell yours, mod the hell out of the TT and probably come close to breaking even while doubling your horsepower

or check out the EVO kit. that's what i did. 425 to the wheels with the blower and exhaust. and for a lot less money that RUF, not to mention it can be installed and serviced locally. i like the TPC kit too. I've been in one and it's damn fast. they just don't have as good a dealer network as EVO.

Here you couldn't get away with any other SC installation than the RUF (illegal), the RUF one looks they way Porsche would have done it, you can't see it unless you know it's there. What you are saying that it can't be installed or serviced locally is wrong.
Preferred perhaps, but it can be done. It isn't a space ship.

who would you have do a local install? how would the warranty with RUF hold up? how if RUF going to back you up if you have some local mechanic installing a complex supercharger system.
let me put it this way, i had the EVO system installed and it's much simpler than the RUF. my local dealer's motorsports shop still screwed it up and it had to go to another EVO dealer. now it's just been peachy since then

now as invasive an install as the RUF is and with as much as it costs, i'm not sure i would trust the RUF install with anyone besides RUF.

If the car is tuned it is no longer legal and you have to put it back.
So it does matter a lot of the installation is bolt on or "original look."
