Street cars vs. tract drivers

I just found out today that one of my partners has a 04 911 geared up and does race and track driving once of twice a month. I am soon getting my 12th porsche. Never even thought of anything but street driving. I have been on this forum only several weeks and it is obvious many, many posts are from owners who race or track drive. I wonder what % of people who post here do street, races, track or both.

I would say about 15 percent or so are dedicated track ****** (like me)...

I'm a track *****, although I'm also not a Porsche owner (but I aspire to be). My 05 STi is my daily driver and my track car for 1 or 2 weekends per month. Starting next year I will also be driving it in NASA TTS. I tried to get my father to bring out his 997 C4S but he thinks he's too old He did come with me a few years ago in his old E46 M3 though and he loved it. If you haven't tried HPDE yet, I highly recommend it.

I just took delivery of my first Porsche this week. I really hadn't planned on taking it to a track. Can you just go and drive it at a track or do you have to race? In most competitions I typically lose so I just like to tell people I'm not very competetive

there are events called "DE"s (driver events) that you can sign up for and take your car to...they are basically lapping sessions of whatever track you are signed up for...procedure varies depending upon the sponsor...

Looks like Mid-Ohio for you!

My partner who races a modified 04 911 says it costs him about 3500$ each time he races. 1k for the tires and 500 for the brakes, then he and 3 others pa guy to haul their cars and maintain them. He says it's fun, not dangerous-they have the 13 -13 rule--everyone but me knows about that. I get a kick out of the modifications I read on this forum. You take a 100k car and take and change everything-I don't even know half the stuff that they write about. Like my photogrpahy hobby or any other I had done.
