Smile 1st modification coming

I just got off the phone with my local rim/tire shop and I have decided to take the plunge. I know how many 6speeders feel about the "BLING" factor, but to each his own....right? Anyway the set up will be quite agreesive with some 20" GFG, and the rear will feature their new 5 and 1/2" lip. I can't wait to see them on the car with the springs. I will have some H&R's installed to lower the car a bit. I know the quote on the wheels is great, but on average what should the springs and instal run me??? Any info is appreciated..

The install time for the springs should be around six hours. Also, you should have an alignment done after lowering the car and getting new tires/wheels. So it should run around $900 to install springs and align. + the price of the H&R springs themselves.

Thanks, I can't wait. My friend that used to have his own shop works for someone else now, but is getting me the springs for $290 instal another $300. I wanted to get a 325 tire in the rear but he thinks its pushing it....I thought at the least a 315 since I have a 305 on it now. If I could stretch the dollars a bit further I will get some pedals and possibly fabspeed mufflers and tips. I don't want to do a full exhaust on a lease.

Russ, what wheels did you finally leave on the car?? I know you have like three sets.

Was just looking around on tire rack and don't see any 315 size tires. The size on 20" jumps up to a 325. I think that will be to big so I guess I will have to stay @ 305. The tire the shop is suggesting is the Continental contact 3....325/25/20". I wonder how the ride will be on that???? Thank God its not a daily driver!

Yeah, I'm not that great at choosing. I sold my original factory 19's, and I'm keeping the 18" Fikse's with race rubber on them, the 19" Dymags with R-spec Pilot Sport Cups on them, and the 20" TechArts with ContiSport 2's. I plan to rotate some, but the Dymags are still on right now.

I would not recommend the Conti's. They have a poor ride and less grip than the PS2's. Just my $.02.

I have conti sport 3 and they do suck. I got a good 6000K out of them with moderate to regular driving, very disappointed in them.

See if you can get some sort of written guarantee on the springs and install. I read a few threads about shocks that were blown due to lowering springs. I also know from a few wheel tuner guys that there are certain combinations of front and rear wheel / tire sizes that will cause ABS issues. Point is to just be careful - you don't want an issue 6 months down the line...
