Nav-TV or Denison unit?

Any thoughts on the Nav-TV or Denison unit for Ipod integration. Audio place wants $1000 for the Nav-TV. Sounds like a lot to listen to my Ipod....but I need my music man!

I have the dension unit and its fairly good; also the unit is upgradeable .. so future firmwares will fix any bugs.

Stephen, where are you located? We are a Dension US supplier, so I do have reams of info for you, as well as possible installers in your area who can go over the products.

I have the Denison unit from Eric, as well....installed it myself and it works fine (I usually always have it on shuffle). There are a few known bugs, but firmware upgrades are a snap.

I've had both - the NavTV was ok but slow. The Dension is still trying to get working in my Cayenne.... there is a long thread about both the NavTV and Densions - perform a search if you want to learn more.

I've had the NAVTV unit for a few months now and find it about 65% reliable (buggy and unpredictable the rest of the time). I'm ready to throw it out my window.

Of those who've had both NAVTV and Dension, do any of you have new opinions on which unit is better?

I recently purchased the Dension Gateway with Bluetooth from Eric @ bumperplugs. Will have it installed at Sharkwerks in a couple of weeks. I will give a review of it once the installation is complete.

Thumbs down Nav-TV

I have just had the Nav-TV put into my brand new 2007 CS and it has been nothing but trouble. I now have the seconde head unit in there and a replacement cable and it was working great until I left the car and then got back in and started the engine. no CD changer (ipod) recognized. It has happened 4 times today and has come back once but I have no idea how.

I have asked the dealer to let me know what I am doing wrong or I want my money back and will ask them to put the Denison one in instead - hopefully.

The interface was a little quirky but was otherwise great so I was a bit pissed when it stopped working - it led me into a false sense of security.

if anyone has experienced this before and knows how to fix it that would be very helpful else I will be beating up my Porsche dealer tomorrow to get my money back.

I get a no-CDC error every time I turn on the PCM, even if everything is fine. Sometimes the car doesn't see the NAVTV unit and I have to screw around with restarting the car, unplugging/plugging the iPod, etc. Not a reliable solution. But I still think it's better than just the CDC.

Is there any kind of wired fm modulator? I had one on my cayenne that pluged in through through the antena and it sounded pretty good. I dont think it is worth the $500 for the dension because I would rather just control it through the ipod. So is there anything that cheap that will allow me to connect my ipod directly through the stereo such as wired fm modulators, something through the cd changer, etc.

NavTv

Hey Guys!
I just got a used 2006 4S with the NavTv for the Ipod..........what a piece of junk, nothing but problems as noted above. Wish there was something I could do to get it to work right. I'd sure stay away from it if you can.
