how to break in a 997s
how to break in a 997s
I have new 997 targa4s. it seems like the salesperson said to keep up 4k rpm. I would appreciate some input as if this is to wimpy or what I should do.

first 1000 miles alternate revs sneek in some 4k plus rpms.
after 1000 miles alternate revs no constant rev on long drives(hiways) and sneek in 6000 + revs
1500 miles no limits.
Change oil at 3,000 miles.

For whatever it's worth, I recently came back from Porsche Sport Driving School where I was continuously shifting over 6K rpms on a Porsche with about 500 miles on it. I don't think break-in rules mean much.
I am on my 6th 911 going back to 1981. I followed the owners manual to the letter on each car.
I just picked up my 2007 C2S Cab. on 3/27/07 and am driving it like it had 10,000 miles on it. I'll let you know if there are any issues down the road.
I got the PSE on this edition, disconnected it from the sport chrono and I am going ape s--t.
There is no substitute!!!!

Picked mine up 3 months ago and REDLINE it out of the dealer....yeeeh haa let the good times roll...Treat it like a baby and it will be a baby but if you want a kick A** machine on wheels, ride it how you want it and the beast will come out

I think your point would have been better made if they gave you a car with ....say 30,000 miles on it .
Maybe there is a reason why all the cars they use in that driving school have VERY low milage on them ? Lol
With so many reccomendations/opinions on this subject, and the lack of any problems reported due to "improper" break-in, I have come to the belief that there really is no break-in required for these awesome machines.
