Tubi or AWE?
Here's a clip of my car with Tubi mufflers and headers. As many have said, at idle, it is not loud. But all that changes with the slightest blip of the throttle.

I know I have posted this before but I went through a lot before I selected my mufflers. I heard Tubi at the track and down at Champion Motorsports and at Reeves Porsche, AWE at a car meet and Fabspeed at a dealer in NC. I also heard and drove PSE cars during my purchase and during a PDE in Birmingham.
they all sound good a lot the same for the basic note of the sound coming out of the exhaust. This is due to the engine being the same. The differences are in the volume of sound and the overall harmonics of the sound. Think of it this way...take 4 different styles of acoustic guitars and play the E string. Each will be the same not but different volumes and harmonically sounding...ie the tone of the guitar.
Tubi is the most quiet especially and idle and low throttle inputs. Tubi sound stock at idel and low throttle inputs. WOT has a bit of a european muffled and muted howl.
AWE has a low muffled muted sound with a puff or air in the sound. Louder than Tubi but not all that loud to me. AWE sound deeper than Tubi and a little deeper and more muffled sounding than Fabspeed.
PSE with the open mod has a raspy bark type of sound and good burble on decell. PSE is much louder than AWE or Tubi.
Fabspeed does not have the raspy bark of PSE but it sounds much more open than AWE and Tubi. There is some slight burrble on decell and at WOT the wail of the engine sounds Cup car like but muted. Fabspeed is louder than AWE and Tubi and about the same level of volume at PSE but a totally different harmonic to the Fabspeed sound.

Many thanks.
I can on what I have.
Tubi mufflers plus AWE cats is masively loud. Its fine when cruising, no drone, but at open throttle positions is really really loud.
I have the Tubi headers waiting to be installed, which will open it up even more.

Anyone have a video/sound clip of the F77, thats not the Champion one.
Or anyone with the F77 can comment how close the car sounds to the video from the drivers seat?
Can you let me know the sound tone/quality change you get from the Tubi headers... ?
Im in search of the Champion video sound....
Thx
He drives in my PCA club and has Tubi. His car is stock quiet and idle and cruising around the pits. I hear him out on the track at full song coming down the straight and the car is rather quiet compared to other 997's with Fabspeed and PSE.
Beginning to wonder if exhaust notes aren't strictly a subjective thing since I've read plenty of comments stating the exact opposite. What sounds a certain way to Jack sounds different to Jill.
A few comments I found on RL:
"the most popular seems to be fabspeed probably due to price, moderate sound levels and most available (for test drives). check out postings by porschephd, e55amg, golfguy and others on fabspeed.
awe wins on rennlist for quiestness and imho, quality and technical merit. check out post by eclou and mike/a.w.e.
atomic80 and aahtt have posted on cargraphic.
sharkster thinks that miltek is the quietiest (and provides the most power) and tubi provides the best sound."

"It was probably the Tubi exhaust. It has a different tone...not real high pitched, lower than the PSE...but not really low like the Fabspeed either. It is extremely loud in the upper half of the rev range, significantly louder than Fabspeed or PSE. You can hear it at least a good half block furthur away."

Atleung,
My C2S with Tubi sounds just like this !
Its a really great sound... dont get me wrong... just different from the Champion video.
I totally agree and as a musician I can tell you from experiance this is very true. However I wonder if Tubi has changed anything in there mufflers recently to make them louder. I ask this because I have Fabspeed and know exactly what it sounds like in and out of the car. I have heard plenty of Tuni mufflers on 997S's and I know for a fact (use a db meter if you want) that the Tubi at idel really sounds no different than stock and barely different at WOT and TOTALLY different than the Champion video's that I play through studio monitor speakers.

I've had the complete AWE exhaust for a few months now. It has definitely enhanced my driving experience - I find myself always driving with the windows down and stereo off. For those that say it's too quiet, I've set off numerous car alarms as I pass by them. However, you can keep it 'neighborhood safe' by not nailing the throttle, but once you get on it the sound is just awesome. Go WOT in 3rd gear and you'll be sold on it. For the money, you can't beat it.
If you don't mind spending a few extra bucks, I would check out the Capristo exhaust. My brother in law just got one for his Cayman S, and it is sick. Added 21 hp, and the sound is just incredible. I also heard it on a GT3 RS and it sounds phenomenal (there's a youtube video of it). It comes with a key fob that lets you adjust the note (a la PSE) and the exhaust is programmable as well...If you've got the extra dough, it's the way to go.

What is really weird to me is there are some youtube video's of cars claiming to have Tubi and they burble and roar.

Not sure what to make of all this either.......except this is very close to what my car sounds like with Tubi cans only. Stock cats and headers.
