Springs for a 911 carrera???
Springs for a 911 carrera???
Hey guys I did a search and nothing really informative came out. I want to get springs, I JUST got a 2005 white/tan 911 carrera. I like my cars pretty low, the techart springs are nice but pretty expensive and they dont drop the car enough. How are the h&r springs, ive only HEARD that theyre pretty good and give it a nice drop right on top of the tire. Im gonna be getting techart body kit and 20 inch wheels. Any suggestions would be great, I just like my cars nice and low but dont want to venture towards coilovers. Thanx in advance.
You will defintely would want to go with coilovers after riding in a car that has them, springs are ok, but sooner or later the car ride will get sloppy cause oem shocks were made for oem springs not lowered springs.
Ive had springs b4 on passed cars, and honestly I only keep my cars for like 2 or 3 years MAX. Its hard to spend so much money on coilovers when I wont have enough time to feel my money was spent wisely. So lol if you HAD to go with springs that dropped it decently low, what would you do??
im lowering my C2S in a couple of weeks with the PASM compatible H&R springs. if you look hard enough you will find quite a few owners that have dropped their carreras. Techarts are popular but i am pretty sure they are just repackaged eibachs. Considerably more expensive than the H&R and not a really dramatic drop. The point about aftermarket springs eventually causing your OEM shocks to fail...true, but its not going to happen overnight. After your shocks give out, upgrage to coilovers if you really want to. Advantages of coilovers are just adjustability. If you go to ther track and use your carrera on the street then coilovers might be a good opiton, but coilovers are gonna run you a pretty penny, especially if you go with a good set that allow you to use your PASM option. The stock suspension on porshes is excellent and tolerance is much better than on many other OEM setups.
I've had them for over 10,000 miles, daily driven, and have few complaints. The ride is slightly more compliant but the overall ride quality isn't much worse than stock. The only issue is that the car gets a tad skittish in the front when you hit exceptionally rough road surfaces.
I have brand new techarts for sale Drop is 25mm, 15 with PASM. They have a different spring rate than the Eibachs. The drop is less and the ride isn't changed as much from what I've read and heard

I have also heard that Techarts are made by Eibach, maybe they are made different than the standard Eibachs?????
I have a set of H&R springs on my 997S with 20's, the thing is, the guy installed springs for a 996 Turbo, or at least that's what the box says... I am probably going to get them replaced with the correct part number, but in the meanwhile, they're on and they work... The 996 springs say they drop the car 1" and the 997 springs say 1.25", so i'm guessing when they get switched it'll drop another .25" but who knows...

IF I am correct, the 2 main spring MANUFACTURERS we are talking about are H&R and Eibach.
TechArt, as with most 'tuner' names, manufacture very little....they figure out what they want, and then 'outsource' the manufacturing to their specs, just like Ford and GM. That said, TechArt has their springs made by Eibach, the manufacturer and not the competing tuner.
The way business is done today, there is nothing wrong with outsourcing. Because you can figure out how to make a better product doesn't mean you have the resources/ability (CNC machinery, etc.) to build it.....
That said, for cosmetics (the stock car past 8/10's is beyond my abilities now that I am getting old-er), I recently did the TechArt springs because I heard the H&R lowered the car a bit more and there is that stock shock issue (they don't work good if you take them out of their sweet spot). The TechArts are OK, ride quality is about the same, have not had a chance to push them, they only lowered my PASM-S less than 3/4"....

They are the same springs. They list a different drop height because the PASM cars are already lower.

If you are doing the install yourself, you may be able to find them for a few bucks cheaper doing some searching on the internet.
I would recommend having your car aligned after installing the springs.
Good Luck
