Anyone? "SYSTEM FAULT VISIT WORKSHOP" **SEE IMAGE**
Thanks for the replies guys! I'll check out those other vendors for prices.
Jack, its a 2006 that is out of warranty. I agree its a BS thing to have happen and Porsche should pay for it, but honestly, I'd rather rub my face against a cheese grater than try to get the dealer to pay for this. I have just not had good luck with the stealerships giving me anything for free (or even at a reasonable price).

I was going to wax my headlights this weekend, making me think twice about this. What type of buffer's are you guys using? I'm debating doing this by hand, anyone trigger this warning buffing by hand? Is it just the headlights or is it all over the front of the car?
I triggered this warning by hand! I did not use a buffer to apply or remove the wax.
I heard a pop of static electricity, heard the hood trunk release activate, and then when I started my car I got the warning.
This is ridiculous then, I wonder if disconnecting the battery will help at all. I'm assuming you were waxing your headlights correct?
Yep, I was waxing my headlights. I think it happened when I was removing the wax, as opposed to when I was putting it on. Basically, I will never again wax my headlights once this is taken care of.

However, supposedly, the new control unit is supposed to be safe from this issue (im not risking it).

It occurs to me that if either the fender (or the person buffing (?) were grounded there would be no build up of static elec. I am unable to proceed beyond this point because other than standing in a puddle barefoot I wouldn't know how to proceed.

Nope went through three modules myself! I finally just removed the headlights BEFORE I waxed the car.......problem solved! It is a 5 minute job after you have done it once.....
When I did ask my dealer about this issue....they looked at me like I was NUTS!

I'm glad your dealer looked at you the same way I do Stacy. He sounds very perceptive!
Glad to see you are still hanging around, wishing you had a Porsche to polish again.

yeah, its been quiet here without u buddy
Thanks for the tip, looks like I'll be removing my headlights this weekend. I plan on buffing then installing a 3M protective film over the headlights. I've done this once before on my Z3, Headlights continue to look brand new 10 years later.
How hard is that 3M film to apply? Is it pre-cut or do you have to cut it yourself?
