Air Box For Porsche
Many other threads on this exact subject, one very current (a few days old and still active). Try a search on various terms and you'll find them. Some swear by them, others avoid them. The only airbox that interests me (and I'm a long-term track junkie) is the X51. I'll never put an oiled filter into one of my cars again.
As for gains -- not even worth thinking about. There's just no value in a few HP / TQ for that sort of money or effort. The car is plenty fast already.
I did find substantial gains in the AWE headers, cats, and mufflers. The biggest gains came from use -- at 5600 miles my 997S is loosened up and really performing.

Ron the X51 intake will be worth something...5mm larger throttle body along with the dual snorkel setup should be worth a few hp and not to mention much better throttle response the larger throttle body will give. This along with some of the custom software that is now being made available through REVO and FVD should give some good gains.

No I don't, but I have been in touch with people who have done the X51 airbox with good results. Just it's not really a bolt on mod as you do have to cut through the rear deck.
Champion is using their own airbox not the X51 OEM intake, unless they changed.

The box and associated hardware can be had for around the $700.00 range, if you want to do the throttle body as well you are pushing a g-note.

Sorry didn't see your PM..love to bring it by one day so you can hear it...

I don't see it on the site. Do you have to call on it?
Yes talk to Rick Knab...
here is a copy of the email..
David,
Not a problem, I usually get to emails quicker than to
voicemail/messages. I checked my notes, I had a price of $987.17 (plus
freight) for the air intake, associated parts, and throttle body. Let me
know if you have any other questions.
If there is anything else I can help you with, don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks again!

I followed a friend in his 997S around Sebring yesterday during our DE and he has no mufflers, Evo intake and some other mods. He has the 6 speed manual and I have the 5 speed Tipronic. We are friends at the track and we were having a blast...I let him around me to follow his line and he could not pull away from my stock (except for Fabspeed mufflers) 997S.
So to do any of these by - pass mufflers, high-flow cats, open intakes and so forth and expect a gain in power is hog wash.
