The new Viper ACR

Wow! Forget the ZR1. I think the Dodge boys have scored a homerun with this one. Fast, built for the track and guaranteed to hold value. If I had room in the garage, I would own one.

id take a zr1 anyday over any viper.

but then there is that appeal of a twin turbo viper which is just undeniable....

Not being a smartass:

How is it guaranteed to hold value?
Limited production?

I would be scared to push the regular Viper to its limit now driving the ACR in any place rather than the track is crazy, no traction control and an engine with such low torque down low can get me in trouble very easily.

I have had to privledge to drive many different Vipers and Corvettes. I will say the Viper turns more heads, but as far as a great car to drive on the street and some track use, the new Z06 is a hard car to beat!!! The ZR-1 will only be more of a monster!!!

Guaranteed to hold value based on the past. The past ACR's are holding their value well and you are hard pressed to even find one.

I owned and 06 Z and very problematic. The Viper's are very track worthy.

I agree with the comments the Viper turns heads more as it has more of the ''super car" looks from the sheer size of that thing.

Still, considering it can't hold onto a turn without the throttle completely depressed and the drive compensating every few milleseconds, I doubt it will be much more of a track beast than a ZR1, or comparably priced 911.

Err, by depressed I mean "not pressed at all." Just realized I stated it the other way around...

The new ACR should definately be an absolute force to be reckoned with on the track. Its handling limits will also be way beyond what is considered safe on public roads, considering that it comes with a 295/335 MP Sport Cup combo, 1000lbs of downforce at 150mph iirc (unheard of on most street cars), and KW coilovers. I don't see the ACR and ZR1 as being direct performance competitors. The ACR will be a more of no frills weekend track warrior for the harcore track guys, while the ZR1 is more of a straight line beast that's quite competent on the track and on the street. I've also heard that the ZR1 is more comfortable in ride and comfort than the regular Z06, which is why I have this viewpoint of the two.
