2013 SRT Viper Begins at Vivid Racing
2013 SRT Viper Begins at Vivid Racing
If you were born in the late 70's or early 80's then you probably had the original Dodge Viper RT10 poster on your wall. Why wouldn't you as it screamed America with its huge displacement engine, futuristic looks, and sex appeal. At the time this car was roaming the streets, I was in my early teens and when you saw one of these, you said to yourself, "damn that guys is loaded". Car and Driver magazine went as far to say that driving the Viper was like "playing ping pong with a Louisville Slugger baseball bat.". When the 2nd generation GTS coupe came out, things started to get competitive. Comparable to the Ferrari 355, Porsche 911 Turbo, Toyota Supra, and others, the Viper became a reason for people to stick with American muscle. However it is when the 3rd and 4th generation Viper came out that we started to get some more into styling, technology, and performance.
Trying to reach into the domestic muscle market, we picked up a 2005 SRT-10 Dodge Viper "Mamba" edition. We did some basic upgrades to improve handling and performance while planting our roots in the community. Having a chance to personally drive this car a couple of times around, I know what this RWD monster could do if not careful. We witnessed the destruction of a Viper first hand on the 2004 Gumball 3000 Rally. The Mamba was like driving a jet boat. Here you were smashed in the little ****pit and then in front of you was nothing but a long nose full of ponies. It sounded mean, it looked mean, but it was lacking. It had AC at least, but the interior was a little Chryslerish. Nothing to fancy for electronics, sound, or convenience. At least it had power windows unlike the Noble M400 we had!
As we continued to punch through Vivid Racing project cars, we knew we needed to be back with an American product. Should we do a Mustang? What about a Corvette? Camaro's are everywhere too. But when we saw the debut of the new SRT Viper in late 2012, we new this was our thing. Equipped with a MEGA 8.4L V10 aluminum block engine mated to a 6speed transmission, this is out of the box nasty fast. But this time around, they made the $100,000 car feel like one too. Featuring traction control, Brembo brakes, and a dashboard that is not looking like dirt track race car gauges, the new SRT Viper has it all. The interior has been sculpted and trimmed just as well as a Porsche 911 or Lamborghini Gallardo.
We look forward to accessorizing this new 2013 Viper Vivid Racing style and debuting it at the upcoming 2013 SEMA show. So stay tuned to our official Viper Gallery here for photo updates!

With only a week to play with it on the public streets, our Project SRT Viper is now under the knife for the 2013 SEMA show with Seibon International. We have removed the front and rear bumper, as well as the hood to which Seibon will do their work. Much like our 2012 SEMA BMW M5 F10, Seibon will be working on making a rear carbon accent, front carbon accent, and a new hood design. Following with other products we have collabed on, the rear will get a carbon fiber diffuser and the front will get a nice front lip spoiler. Being that the OEM hood as well as decklid is already beautiful carbon fiber from the factory, how could we improve upon this? Well it comes down to styling. With such a complicated design, we as well as you are very intrigued to see how the hood will turn out. As well, we will be doing the side skirts to complete the package.
With the car stripped down naked, we will be putting the Agency Power touch to the car. This includes building custom headers, new exhaust system, air intake all to start. As we dive deeper, we will be analyzing engine components, suspension adjustability, as well as dress up parts. So stay tuned to our SRT Viper build here as we start off with some baseline number analysis.

Awesome car and pics. I cant wait to see this build. What options does the car have? Can you post the window sticker? Should be interesting to look at. I love the stock wheels and the white really looks great. You guys are going to do it right we all know that.
We skipped a couple updates so catch up here - http://www.vividracing.com/blog/category/project-cars/project-srt-viper/
Its that time of year again where everyone is getting ready to spend a week of their life in fabulous Las Vegas, staring at the industries most well equipped vehicles. Queue music... Its SEMA! For the rest of us not able to make the trek to car Mecca, we live vicariously through blogs and forums showcasing pictures and videos. So we are starting ours off ahead of the curve. Here is a sneak peak of our 2013 SRT Viper with all its new carbon fiber upgrades that will be debuting at the Seibon booth. Having Seibon as a partner last year with our BMW M5 F10, we wanted to go that extra step for this years event. Upgrades from Seibon include a carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber front lip, carbon fiber canards, carbon fiber side skirts, carbon fiber diffuser, carbon fiber tail light surround, and carbon fiber wing. One thing to note with the carbon fiber hood is Seibon's ability to have a custom weave done that allows this giant hood to be done as 1 piece. The top and bottom are not seamed at all which from a production aspect is quite an accomplishment.
Along with the Niche wheels, Pirelli tires, Agency Power intake and exhaust this already equipped boss machine just became that much more awesome. You might be thinking, "yeah thats a lot of carbon". But don't worry we will have a suprise instore for those that go to the show!

Very nice looking pieces VR. Just a bit disappointed in the fitment of the hood to body gaps towards the front of the wheel well and it looks like it is a bit off where the hood wheel arch meets the front clip wheel well area. Is it a fitment adjustable issue? You can see it in the Video.

The OEM hood is not all carbon fiber. Also the Seibon hood we did shots with it exposed because it is all 1 piece weave, no seams. Most people dont run a full sheet that wide. Seibon had it custom woven. Here are the pictures from the show with it painted leaving the carbon stripes exposed only.
