Motor Trend and Car and Driver test the C6 Z06
Motor Trend

Top Speed: 198 mph (mfg claim)
Lateral acceleration: 0.98g
That's pretty darn quick for only $65k!
I definitely need the GIAC flash, intake and exhaust now to hopefully keep the ZO6s in the rearview mirror.

That's a relief. At least I will have the flash in two weeks; and maybe the Evo intake.
Hopefully, the exhaust shortly thereafter.

That is great news. Hopefully, Porsche will stop screwing around with meger interval 10 to 20 hp bumps every 2 years and step up.
The competition has set the bar too high to get away with anything less than a 500+ hp 997TT right out of the gates and they need a GT3 with about 415 to 425.
Perhaps Porsche does not want to immediately release a 997TT for $ 150k that is faster than the CGT or perhaps the flat 6 is reaching the point where it cannot keep pace with the new V8s and V10s. Will look bad if 997TT debutes with stats slower than cars costing less than 1/2 its price or sedans.
The Twin Turbo has stagnanted in performance since the release of the 993TT. These little .1 to . 2 bumps in the 0 - 60 times ever four or five years won't hack it anymore.

What's up! You enjoying the Gt2?
Yep, that Z-06 is gonna be a beast...you'll have no trouble keeping up w/ your 2, especially if you get flashed!

At 3.5 0-60 it is starting to become a case of diminishing returns. The amount of horsepower and traction necessary to see even small improvements goes way up. There will always be stat racing but the Z06 is hard to beat on paper. What I'd like to know is how many guys have ever actually had a non-planned race against another car from 0-60? Not me. The drag strip would be the only safe place to really exploit these numbers, but everyone likes bragging rights. It's the same thing when the Turbo/GT2 was/is faster than a stock 360. Personally I don't care and unless the 360 guy was an @ss$ole, I'd have no reason to try and prove it. Nice cars are nice cars and the fact that the Z06 exists at the level it does only pushes Porsche to be better. I've often heard how racing improves the breed but I believe it's the competition right now that is keeping the pressure on.

I will be more than happy to slap one down in the Viper though, should the opportunity present itself.
