Hello Dock. I follow some of your posts sometimes on Z06vette.com in regards to the C6 Z and notice that you are a very angry man that the new Z06 will annihilate your TT in any performance measure.

Out of all the reviews, you take the one that is not the most optimal. Why not quote some of the other guys on this P-forums that have the car, or the MB forums, or the Corvette forums that have owned various exotics, etc..??

Please give it up and give credit where it is due, will ya? You are starting to look bad...

Then you don't follow my posts closely enough.

Can you be specific in terms of my posts concerning reviews?

P.S. - I couldn't care less about how the C6Z performs with regard to the 996 Turbo...so how in the world could I be angry?

Dock isn't speaking against the 911 turbo. He is talking about the intangibles when driving a car. The "feel" that it sends through your body and the connection that it has with your mind. ANY car can be made fast with the right parts and engine. You can cut corners and build a fast car that will handle VERY well. I know plenty of people in my town that have 240's with engine swaps, suspension kits, and various other modifications that allow them to run incredible track times; much faster than my 911 turbo. However, do those cars give the same sense and feel as driving a 911 turbo? Maybe they do to that person and maybe they don't. To me, they don't and I think that is what Dock is getting at...

Sometimes there is more than just performance, horsepower, and times that make us buy one car over another.

The Z06, however, has earned the right to be called a supercar. The performance speaks for itself. It is not just a drag racer...it can go toe to toe with any supercar out there on any track.

that'd be interesting, cause owners have already matched the times any of the mags put up

The C6 Z06 is very fast for a $66k car

Last weekend a new Z06 raced a Renntech flashed CL65 from 50 and held a half car lead until approximately 160 when the CL65 started pulling by with a car length lead at 165 when they let off.

However, according to the passenger in the Z06, if they would have went just another 100 yards, the CL65 would have buried the C6Z by at least another 5-6 car lengths. The twin turbo AMG's are stout!

With that said, the Chevy is still mighty impressive for a mere $65,800.

The C6 Z06 is impressive regardless of what it costs. The pricetag is a bonus...

Definitely not a ringer. MT actually dyno'd each car and the ZO6 put down 453 RWHP, exactly what owners are reporting.

The stock C6 Z and the CL were dead even up to 160, and at 165 the CL it started to pull.

The driver of the CL also stated that his car made 670 bhp and 900 ft-tq..Not bad for a stock chevy, eh?

FGT 79.6
Now this part of the test surprises me...I would have figured the FGT fastest, certainly faster than the Viper. Hmmm.

Why not just give the Z06 the respect it deserves. It's no Porsche, but it sure beats the crap out of 99% of the cars out there for a mere fraction of the price!!!

Respect? Why don't you guys go to google and type corvette recall and see what comes up. I beleive there has been a recall on every Vette for the last 10 or so years. Face it -- American auto cos make lousy cars. Ford sells a $150k supercar that was also recalled. Why? The same problem seen on recent Corvetts; the frame doesn't stay together. I respect cars that work, not fast cars that are poorly made.

You are making it out to seem worse than it realy is. Everyone has recalls, but they are usually just a part or software update. In the Ford GT case it was serious as there was a problem with the control arms I believe. Porsche has recalls too you know, along with BMW and Mercedes.

The bottom line is that the lousy corvette will spank any porsche short of the carrera GT in performance and pretty much anything else out there, regardless of price. That is not saying that the corvette is better, but it is saying SOMETHING.

This was posted on the Internet quick. I was just talking to the guys in the Z06 Sunday afternoon getting the blow by blows.

Personally, I am even more impressed by the Benz considering its a 4500+ lbs ultra luxobarge that can slay 99% of the sports cars on the road.
