Info On Sirius Satellite Radio In 997 Turbo

I just purchased my 2007 Turbo. I really miss the Sirius Satellite radio in my former car. I want to get Sirius put in my new Turbo. What are my options? Does anyone know a good shop in Orange County, CA that can handle the job? I would like to have it fully integrated into the stock system. Thanks!

I had mine installed by my Porsche dealer over a year ago. Completely OEM parts and totally integrated. I think it is the unit from the Cayenne. I am away until Monday but I will post the Porsche part number then if nobody else provides it.

Found this at Suncoast:

I got my XM unit from Stephen @ Imagine Auto. Porsche no longer offers Sirius last i heard. Stephen's unit is truly plug and play and integrates with the PCM.

The Dension unit on our website order page will handle the Sat Radio input and bring it right up on the screen for you.

Stephen at ImagineAuto (PorschePHD) has it all figured out utilizing the Cayenne OEM XM unit. Call him...

http://www.imagineauto.com

XM still not available as on option yet. Porsche claims issues w/ the antenna/reception, which is ridiculous b/c I had my dealer's master tech hack the Cayenne OEM bit into my car (w/ guidance from Stephen at IA) and it works beautifully. I think antenna placement is the key issue, but fine if done right... mine was placed right underneath the front wiper cowling.

Here's what it looks like on the screen (just toggle to it by pressing AM-FM button once installed)...

Sirrus Radio

Everyone has been correct. Contact Steve at ImagineAuto. He will hook you up with a Porsche factory unit, however you can only get XM now as Porsche has signed an exclusive deal with XM.

I did the install on my own last weekend and went in quite easy. Could probably do one in an hour now. The installation of the new combinded GPS / SAT radio anntena is actually quite easy.

Nice thing is that the MOST bus picks up without any reprogramming of the head unit. Below I have pasted a couple of pictures of the actual unit installed under the DVD Sat unit. It is the silver box shown at the bottom. I unfotunately did not take any pictures of the antenna install but it is located under the wiper cowl. Search on sat radio on this forum and look for PorschePHD's posts as he has great pictures of the install as well.

The screen shots on the previous post show you what the head unit will look like when installed. Pure perfection. Now only the Dice Link to finish. Pictures to follow.

Hey 997 Turbo Tip - looks like you have the factory AM radio antenna on the back of the roof? Knew that was an option, but never seen it before (nor expected anyone to option for it).

Wow I'm impressed! I like how you were able to make it fit under the cover for the sat unit..... very clean install

So the final word is no SIRIUS in the 997 Turbo? Say it ain't so! I have a year left on my subscription.

How is XM? I know you get baseball games which is cool.

I had my dealer do the install for me all OEM parts before I even took delivery of my car. I went with the Sirius unit, it works perfectly. This option is not cheep, but worth it in my opinion because it is completely integrated and you don’t have to deal with am FM modulator.

This sounds ideal. But, strangely enough, my dealer (Newport Beach Porsche) said that they simply will not do it and referred me to an ourside car audio place that did not offer the intergrated solution.
