...Porsches been quietly working on the remedy all along, http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080619....-ring-with-pdk
The GTR couldn't have been faster without the Turbo to push it as competition, so it looks like the next turbo will be faster working with its new motivation...such is progress in the automotive industry

Nissan raised the bar with the GT-R and Porsche will do the same with the next iteration of the 911TT. Then another manufacturer will do it to Porsche, etc, etc. Thank goodness for that! It's called "progress" as SpeedLimit? points out.
I love the fact that Porsche dont really care! They simply quoted 'we love the competition' which I think was a great response to the GTR.
Nissan has admitted the GTR is a loss leader and clearly the power figures are understated. Consider those facts and its not as impressive but still one bad *** machine. I'd own one.

PDK is great progress. However, the fact that the new 911S (on what appear to be Cup tires-- article says "Sport tires" which I think means Pilot Sport Cups for domestic German market) for $90K+ (Prob >$100K is you really tried to equip it comparably) is 20 seconds slower around the ring than the $70K GT-R doesn't exactly pull the rug out from under the GT-R.
I certainly hope the next Turbo spanks the GT-R. The real issue is why the current one doesn't.
Oh well, as others have noted competition and progress are great for everyone.
My only fear is that the current price of oil/gas will lead to the scrapping of ambitious performance car projects that need to get "Green lighted" now if we are going to see the results in 4-5 years.
As a result, right now (2007-2010) might be the high water mark for performance for the next 20+ years. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Same here, and major reason for my turbo purchase in Feb. Figured there was no time like the present as it is not going to be the same in a few years.
