thinking of lowering car 20mm with techart springs mainly doing it for looks. what will the effect be on car handling wise and also will i need spacers keeping stock wheels for now might get p40"s later. i have asked about techart exhaust with switch valve but didnt get much feedback im thinking its not that popular anyone have it?

it will improve your handling, but not by much. I would suggest Bilstein Damptronics than just the springs for these cars.

The difference between a good set of springs and damptronics is not as much as you would think. Spacers are not needed. The main benefit of the damptronics is height adjustability. If you want the maximum performance coil over there are other choices around but none are PASM compatible.

Bilsteins coilovers which I was referring, are PASM compatible.

I'm pretty sure Gasman realize that. He was referring to Bilstens damptronics are not going make the car handle much better then a pair of spring and that their are other coil over brands that are better for handling but they are not PASM compatible.. Least that how I read it..

We have installed H&R springs onto an otherwise stock 997TT suspension for a customer not too long ago. In theory it seems like a bad idea, and I suggested other alternatives, but the customer insisted. Once installed I was surprised at how well the car performed. Ride was very compliant and similar to stock.

I think it's not a bad option if you're simply looking for a quick solution. You can get a good set of Champion (H&R) springs for a few hundred $$ versus the cost of coilovers.

Thanks Meaker, that's exactly what I meant. The OEM PASM dampers work very well with lowering springs for some reason. I also have the B16 PASM Bilsteins, and I'm betting the difference on the track will be small. But the main reason I did the change was for height adjustability. The car sits perfectly now, just slightly lower than stock.
The other options are the serious track coil overs like Motons and Ohlins etc.

I have H&R springs and love it. I chose that route because, IMHO it doesn't worth to pay more than 3x of springs price for PASM compatible coilovers. I have the experience of coilovers in previous cars and unless you track it hard, it is worthless. You even can buy sways to decrease body roll and yet save money than with just coilovers. As being said above, the springs works incredible well with stock system, is PASM compatible, it lower to the perfect height and improve the handling.

Springs + sways pack is hard pack to beat compared with just coilovers for a DD/few trackdays car.

Not a stupid question at all, and yes, its a must.

GMG springs + good alignment + GMG sways is a fantastic setup, very happy with mine.

i think i'm going to go with your exact setup as opposed to Bilsteins, and I'll save a ton of money, I don't track the car so this should be more than enough to "tighten" the suspension up.

Highly recommend GMG spings and sways, alot of the other springs tend to sag alot after a few months. Mine have barely settled more than an 1/8" since install a yr ago.
Valentino, if you want to take a ride in mine before you decide, let me know.

GMGs are a larger diameter and apparently slightly stiffer and fit better, contact Fab at GMG for the specifics or ck out their website.
