2011 TT Pricing

I am considering to put in an offer for a 2011 lightly optioned new TT stickered at $150k. Since I have just recently started to consider a TT (Carrera S until now), I have no idea how does the pricing work for a TT. Is Turbo harder/easier to negotiate? I am in No Cal (Silicon Valley) if it makes a difference.

If you can afford $150,000, why not put another $10,000 up and get the TurboS. It has all the goodies and it's performance is worth the small premium.

With all the advice to "step up" to an S maybe someone could chime in with some advice for his negotiating process. He did ask for help/suggestions. He may also be a manual guy.

Dealers willing to deal???

Not that there is that much negotiating with the S cars from what I have seen.

Thanks for the suggestion to move up to an S but I am already at the limit with my wife by moving from an S to a Turbo.

Currently, I may actually go the route of a custom order but still need to go in and talk with the salesperson at the dealership. He keeps telling me that a Turbo will be very close to MSRP but I thought only the Turbo S is highly sought after?

Here is how I buy new cars.

1. Do a search on-line for the car/color you want. Autotrader/cars.com/PorscheUSA.
2. Call the internet manager and tell him/her you are interested in their specific car and that you have 5 others you are also considering. I always indicate that I am looking for the best deal even if it is several hours away.

3. Call all 5 and see what they are offering. This process takes about a week. Get the offer in email form. Make sure the email itemizes all charges (i.e. car price, taxes, dealer fees, rebates)

4. Choose the one the best suites your needs/price. You can have the dealer deliver the car to your driveway if it is to far to pick up. Since a dealer in one part of the country is willing to take $12k off sticker, I am sure they would deliver it to your door for $11k off sticker.

I use the above process on new cars. It is much more difficult to buy a used car this way.

Thanks for all the reply. I am going in to the dealer to sit down and close the deal next week, so one last "plead" for any info which may be helpful.

I saw on the dealer's lot there is a car which is very similarly equipped for what I want and it looks like it is already on the lot for almost 2 months. Do you think that I may be in a better position to negotiate for this one instead? Or the deal is probably the same for an order?

In addition, all the talks about the Turbo S does get me thinking and just read in another thread that the poster is implying the S is actually being discounted more, can it be true?

I find it easier and more importantly less time consuming to negotiate over the phone. The internet manger/fleet sales person is normally the best person to deal with.

The dealer also knows they you are almost committed when sitting in their show room.

It seems like you're ordering most of the "standard" features on a Turbo S already. You might as well order a Turbo S and you have the all around increased boost rather than limited boost increase on the Sports Chrono package. If you get a very basic Turbo S at MRSP of around 160k, you still have about at least $5-6k off at the current market and economy. At the end you will have a car with more gadgets and 0-60mph in 2.6 sec stock...with just a few thousand dollars over the $150k budget.

Usually the one on the lot will get a higher discount then a special order. I cant tell you how much because it seems that from area to area the deals are different. I would agree with those saying that doing it over the phone or email is much better and less time consuming. And even more important you are more relaxed in your own environment instead of on their turf with all the pressure they throw at you.
For your specs, the only thing I think you are missing is the PTV. PTV, PCCB and the added power is what the Turbo S will give you over what you have spec'd. I have to agree with the other guys that it is worth the extra $. In the big picture it is a very small increase in price for what you get. Good luck and just get what you want, you will be happy.

That's a good suggestion W.
I usually do most of it over the phone, there you are in the position of power. In the showroom, it's like a pig taking a tour of the slaughterhouse, it's only gonna end one way.
I would make my offer over the phone, let them call you, and they will. If you don't like the deal, hang up, they will call back, always. You're talkin about a 150k, you gotta be cold and hard as nails...until the deal is done to your satisfaction.
