Porsche of Tysons wrecked my new 997 Turbos bumper!!!
So if you saw my previous thread ( New to me 997.1 turbo) I just picked up an amazing low milage GMG beast and was promptly pulled over for not having a front plate. I called the service department at Porsche of Tyson's and asked about a bracket that would go through the tow hook and NOT require drilling. They said they had it in stock but were closing in an hour. I got there with time to spare and was told it would have to be special ordered... oh well... I specify again a NO DRILL kit. I was assured it was no problem and would be ready Wednesday.
Wednesday rolls around and I went over during lunch to have it put on and get an emissions test. 45 min later the car comes out with the inspection but no plates. I mention the bracket to the service advisor and she has the tech take it back assuring me it would only be a few minutes.
I'm sure going by the title you can guess what happened next. Amazingly i have stayed calm and collected. Screaming gets us nowhere. When the car came back the license plate was on a mount drilled dead center into the bumper.
I asked her if it was the no mount and she assured me it was. Clearly it wasn't so I asked her to call and confirm. About 30 seconds into the call she looked like she was about to be sick. Shortly there after another service advisor showed up to ask me exactly what I had requested and exactly what the rep at parts said. After going to "verify" he came back and offered to patch and paint it. Wrong answer.
I told him I wanted a new bumper. Today I called to get an update and the woman I initially spoke with answered. She said he wasn't available but would take a message. I said "this is the guy with the turbo you drilled into". Guess who was available. He told me he would have a new bumper by Tuesday.
I just now got a call from another guy trying to convince me this is my fault for going to them and assuming a tow hook bracket was sold there. He even went on to say there was a miscommunication and the parts department neither heard me request no drill nor stated they could offer that. After telling him this was unacceptable he deferred to his GM. I currently am awaiting his call.
Am I pissed for no reason? Thoughts?

Oh i didnt read the last few paragraphs that you edited. Seems someone took control of the situation and is advising them.
Why dont you mention you are a member in one of those forums that thousands of people read, and if they really want to go along that route...

Heh when he asked if i "expect us to spend that kind of money on a 5 year old car" I asked "is this your final answer? Are you sure this is how you want to handle this?" That's when he deferred to the GM. That's when I did the edit =p

I've been in contact with this dealer over the past few weeks regarding a car they have. They emailed me today and I responded with a copy of this thread and advised them prob not going to do business with them. Too many choices to deal with this type of customer service. Company culture typically flows from the top down.
G/L to the OP.

bummer. my 2011 only has 3500 miles on it and I have to take it for service on several fit-finish items:
-drivers side headlight washer fell into the bumper
-carbon fiber on cup holder release panel is coming off
-Stitching on the steering wheel is coming undone
-Carbon fiber on the passenger door arm rest cracked
i'll set up an appointment as see how it goes. (should mention Tysons is where i go for service)

To these friggen scum bags dealers, even $5 is a huge amount.... If I was you, I will not count on any kind of assistance.
For got to mention, don't bother with a PCNA which itself is an another stupid joke
PCNA when it comes to resolving issues with dang Porsche dealers is a
For this particular reason, I would rather pay $1100 each way to have the car transported to a mechanic 800 miles away who respects our cars and treats them accordingly

The good news is you can drive around your car without issue and hopefully there are other dealers you can visit.
The bad news is you will need to hire a lawyer or go the small claims route, and that is probably going to take a while.
Cost of new bumper, paint, dismount, remount, tax... Probably $3000? Just taking a guess.
I say go for it because it's not like your car is out of commission, have your lawyer fight for everything you can get and take his time making sure he can win.
PCNA might help, it's worth a shot, especially if you can post on their Facebook page if they have one. That seems to be the only way to get companies to pay any attention to anything these days (in addition to getting lawyers involved).
