I need an economy/run around car that isn't embarassing so i'm considering the new CLA since its cheap, 30+mpg, unique/ultra modern and did I mention cheap? They claim it will be 6-8k cheaper than a base 3. I don't want to order one without spending at least 50miles in one and maby some of our overseas friends that own one already can chime in.

If it doesn't drive like a bag of bolts I think MB will have a REAL seller on their hands and I can see the tuner crowd taking to it, not to mention the 16yr old girl market

I have read some decent reviews on the car in the UK press such as CAR, EVO, Autocar, etc. The standard car gets some stick re: the steering; the DCT; rear seat room iirc. Now the AMG version, if it drives like the just released and reviewed A class AMG, will be a fun car.

We have one on order, I have no clue when it is due to arrive but we have several on the new 2014 AMG's on order and we will be building parts for them as soon as they get here.

 

^ excited to see what the mod world has in store for it. Honestally the AMG version is not going to be that popular IMO. Its basically an overpriced S4 or EVO/STI. The cla250 model will with bolts on and a tune be making 400hp and suspension wheels and brakes be faster and better than a stock AMG for stil 5-10k less money.

If the AMG had a 6cyl or an 8 in it maby worth the money but a 4 cyl come on!

 

I have a deposit on an A45 in China, but I have no idea when it will arrive or how much it will finally cost.

AMG gets 4matic, plus the engine is built to withstand a much higher level of boost compare to the standard 2.0T, so imo its well worth the money. I can't wait for this german EVO/STI to arrive. I already sold my Focus ST so I could make room for it LOL, I'll be getting rid of my 328i for this car as well.

 

Im not saying it wont be a good car but 50-60k for what is basically an S4 (which has a v6 supercharged) is a lot of money for that type of car where the audi is 10grand less and has a history of being fantastic. You can get AWD in the 250 model as well. Granted it may not be the same system and is front biased but still, the people that want this car as their "baby" likely cant afford the jump to the amg and the awd 250 model will be the one that takes off in terms of mods and sales. I wont do anything other than a tune at the absolute most, i just want something to not give a **** about.


Exclusivity is of course the big factor for the AMG. if your in china that is big

 

I didn't know the 250 gets 4matic as option. But I do have a few friends that did buy an A250 sport. For the 250, my feeling is that its the mercedes version of the Golf GTI. Its definitely a great car, and I think that its totally worth the premium over the GTI. Mercedes refinement and the badge is enough reason to get the A/CLA over the VW
