I had both Venture and Scotchguard film on my car from 3M. I did not like the venture becasue it lacked durability and the scotchguard has orange peel. I went with these becasue at the time 2011 when I covered my 911 it was the only way I could cover the hood 100%.

Currently I have Xpel Ultimate on the hood replacing the venture shield and the scotchguard on the rest of the car. It is only on a few months so I cant speak to durability. But so far so good.

I had Eddie a Detailing Dynamics do the car and he is more of a perfectionist that I am. The car was done 100% to my satisfaction and he cusotmer service is No 1. My next car will be covered by him and most likely in Xpel Ultimate.

If you have any other questions please let me know.

I've had Xpel on my last 2 cars -- much improved over the original 3M options for front protection. (If you've had any paintwork done, which is typical ahead of having this installed, it probably needs to cure for 60 days first. Just my 2 cents.)

XPEL Ultimate if you can budget a little more. If close to Detailing Dynamics, have those guys install it. Great product/great installers

Good Luck, I have no idea who you are using however I will share some words of caution. Once get his insurance info up front. I have seen so many guys cars butchered by PPF installers. What happens is guys press to hard on the razor blades and score the paint. You really cannot see it until you remove the film and then you have major damage. People think applying film is no big deal. But it is a major deal. If you search post using my user name around March of 2011 I documented the delivery and clear film install. If nothing else you might get some ideas.

Where on LI are you located.

Good Luck!

+1...unless you've seen this guy's work, and he has experience with XPEL Ultimate, just pay the $$ and have a pro do it. Repainting because of razor marks in the paint is far more $$ than getting it right the first time.

Do yourself a favor and go to Detailing Dynamics. Do you know if your friends buddy is any good? More important than which film is used, is who installs it. Most film jobs are average at best, with plenty of disasters.

+1 on Detailing Dynamics in Long Island & Xpel film. Unless the 3M product has been vastly improved in the last few years, it isn't in the same league as Xpel. More important than the product though, is the installer. Even the best product can be easily butchered by a poor installer.

Sounds good. I am up for a good cruise. I am leaving tomorrow to take my son to school. When I get back I would love to cruise. I actually run with a group of guys locally. They have even rented track time in NJ to enjoy the car in a controlled stress free environment.
