Suspension Mod Comments, Please
Hey all. I've read (almost) all of Cannga's thread on suspension and done a bunch of other searches. I am ready to go to the next level of suspension on the car. I am considering the following, but I'm not quite positive I have it right so I was hoping for feedback.
1) RSS adj rear link
2) RSS adj Toe steer kit (one axle)
3) Sway bars front and rear (what brand?)
4) Bilsteins B16 Damptronics OR Techart Lowering springs
5) more aggressive alignment
I keep hearing how folks say to go with the coil overs vs. the springs b/c of adjustable height and nobody ever switches back to springs from just coilovers. I've had coilovers before and loved them. Also, I'm considering doing just 15MM not the full 25 b/c of lower lip scraping issues.
Also, want to do sways. Which ones?
The car is tracked 4 or 5 times a year and otherwise driven to and from work on a highway 3 times a week and some pleasure driving.
Thanks in advance for thoughts/input. All work going to be done by Sharky.

I scrape mine every damn day and don't care at all.

One of my favorite 'features' of the car! The bottom of my M3's front bumper is pretty gnarly at this point.... no removable front lip like the TT.
I went with all GMG stuff myself save my RSS engine mounts which I recently did. Alignment is slightly more aggressive than stock (don't remember stats) and I opted for just springs instead of full coilovers (as you've seen, plenty of reading material here on the forum to help you make your decision).
Car is going to feel a heck of a lot better than stock when you are done.

**** your lower lip. Swap it once a year. Takes literally 2 minutes.

Talked at length with Alex and decided to do the following:
1) Techart lowering springs
2) RSS Rear link
3) RSS Toe Steer kit
4) H&R Front and Rear Sways
5) RSS 7mm front and 15MM rear spacers
6) Michelin PSS
7) More aggressive alignment--specs TBD when I figure out where to do it.
We had a long talk about Bilstein Damptronics and went over the history and his experience and we talked about the various threads here. Based on this, I"m going with the Techarts over any coil over solution. I will let folks know what I think when I have this package together. I will be at Sears Point on 10/10 to try it all out.
Decided NOT to do the engine mount at this time. Gotta have something else to fool with in the future, right?

Seth- congras on the suspension bits. Coilovers for the track/springs for the aesthetics. I'm also looking into a few RSS bits in the near future. As far as 6-7 go. PSS will hold up well at the track of course depending on your experience. You will be limited to a max of -1.2 negative camber up front which is not nearly agressive enough for track use.
Have you been out on a track yet? If not get out there before the mods.
I'll be @ SP on the 21st.

Yes, I've done 4 track events now in the turbo. One before any mods at all and 3 after the EVO went in. Really have way more power than handling and it needs to even out a bit. I'm stuck in 3rd gear all of the time and really need to think about 4th on straights and doing some heel/toe work. I've lost that skill and feel like knucklehead driving around in one gear the whole track--but you gotta love that torque.

Well we all respects Alex's opinion and honesty however I'm in agreement with Can regarding the Damptronics as they do feel spectacular for street and have held up on the track.
Regards to power an TT without a tune is sufficient in my opinion as you are limited to the available grip which for me needs some tweaking even with damptronics/HR sways.
I just started with the sport but in my limited experience the car understeers still, needs more negative camber up front(ie new LCA, camber plates)
3rd gear only!!!!! Dude what tracks are you going to?

I have 1 to 5 done by Alex and team as of this Feb. Sway bar by RSS. added RSS engine mount and short shifter. Always put a smile on my face when I exit a turn on the track.... They did a great job on the car, zero issue with the upgrade!!!
did you do the engine mount at the same time or later?
Same time, it was just 45 minutes on labor. Didn't want to drive all the way back just for that.
I just drop the car off and had the complete suspension done, along with the tune. No exhaust, my little girl sits in the back and it's too loud for her she said. BTW - With the tune, gotten two black flags for sound in Laguna Seca with WOT passing the sound station. Now I have coast on by the sound station...
