I finally picked an exhaust

You may have seen my exhaust inquiries here and my search for a used exhaust in the sales area.

Well, I finally picked one after travelling around in the greater Los Angeles area to meet fellow Turbo owners to listen to a large number of exhausts.

There are so many options. Some of them can easily be dismissed because they cause resonance. This is a big concern since my car is a Tiptronic Cab.

I was down to three systems:

Europipe

Cargraphic

Kline

In the end picked the Kline from SamboTT at By Design here on 6speed and am very happy with it.

There is ZERO drone or resonance. Top up and down are a great experience. The sound is not intrusive in any RPM range. Even the dreaded 2,700 RPM you always seem to be cruzing at has no resonance.

The Kline fits my driving style and people can NOT hear me from two miles away. That was my biggest concern. The exhaust does have a hint of a GT3 note at higher RPM und WOT. I love it in a tunnel. (will make a video for everybody to enjoy later)

Power gain is very noticeable. Spool up kicks in earlier and the car is more responsive. I like to play with the throttle to finally hear my car.

Overall a well-made exhaust that delivers very clean sound for a bargain.

One last thing, the build quality is much better than the Cargraphic. The welds look much cleaner.

I'm curious if you looked into the Speedtech and 911 Tuning's exhaust systems?

I'm transitioning from the 996TT world to a 997TT and just curious how those two are in the 997TT's...

Do the Kline exhausts sit lower than the rear valence on the .2tt's?

Hi guys,

eas- just about the same as factory. It's in at a slight angle and built more petite than the .1 system. I have a few .2 systems on the way in.

Ok. So I'll add here at least as well. I went with Kline too. Pleasantly surprised on all counts. I think the X pipe design is the way to go to eliminate drone. Granted, it is not the loudest of exhausts for those that like to go catless, etc., but the tone is perfect. Slightly deeper at idle, with a great roar at higher RPM.

The fit was perfect, all compliments from my mechanic. Ideal for my parking garage and quiet neighborhood, but also opens up nicely on the road.

Came packed incredibly well. Here are shots from the unveiling in the shop. I do meets in CT if anyone would like to hear in person.

This kit was very well made and fit to the t. I'm glad you gave your mechanic 2 thumbs up because people don't really see the amount of work that goes into removing exhaust, computer, IPD plenum. I witnessed it yesterday and boy am I glad to have some else perform the install.

Glad you picked the Kline system too!! Enjoy.
