997.1 turbo Rattling sound at rear

Does anyone has found where this rattling sound at the rear comes from? I am just getting tired of it and it seems like every car does it, I am saying that because I've heard it in other Porsches......it kinds of embarrassed me!

Not very descriptive....but usually a rattling from the rear is likely the heat shields.

Seems like the engine area, not necessarily the engine, probably something underneath the engine and you can actually hear it when you step on the throttle with the car running but is weird because as I mentioned earlier seems like all the 997 turbo cars do it.....

It is funny that you wrote this because I'm noticing the exact same rattling sound for the last couple weeks and it feel almost like the exhaust has a lose screw that causes rattling in idle.

Like I said earlier, it is likely the heat shields as you are describing a rattle. And Turbos have a lot of them....make sure yours are all secured and shaped properly, and it will go away.

Boeing Driver is infamous around these parts
Are you talking about the "rattling marbles" sound when your on the throttle below about 3000 rpms?? If so, that is normal. Havent been able to find out what the cause is but it is more noticeable in some cars than others. Mine is pretty noisy around 2500 rpms.

Yes that's it, it really borders me and as our mates previously mentioned, could be de heat shields or the exhaust straps, I will be in to it....

There is a low rpm, low throttle rattle that these cars do that has already been discussed. Based on how it is low load only, and the way it sounds on my car most likely gear rattle/trans noise in the 6MT. It is similar in sound to when you drop to a single mass flywheel from a dual mass one and get a little light rattling from the gear box. No big deal. Those that have the noise and upgrade clutches and change flywheels, it would be interesting to see what you think afterwards. A friend of mine on here had a new dual mass installed with his Sachs 2.5 and the noise is there, but very subtle.
