Ok, needs some advice, fix diy or dealer (warranty)

Hi,

I am changing exhaust on my tt, I have the oem system off, and are waiting for new studs (and a o2 sensor).

Anyways, I realised there is a slight leak (oil) on the left rear side of the engine, I don't know what part this is and if this is something I can open simply and put in a new gasket, or if I should take it to the dealer (I am under full warranty from Porsche).

The dealers here might complain due to the aftermarket exhaust, so I might need to put the stock system back on (which sucks)...iPhone pictures so not great but should show what I'm talking about (hopefully).

overview picture

and a close up

That looks like it may be a big job...I would opt for the dealer on that one (if it were me). I would not think they will have an issue with an Aftermarket exhaust....Most don't anyway?

It is hard to tell where that leak may be originating too...May need to clean it up and run it to see the origin, based on the oil trail...

Good luck.

Take it to the dealer the exhaust has nothing to do with an oil leak.

Aftermarket exhaust should not be an issue with your warranty. Heck, most dealers I've been around are happy to sell and install for you.

As a point of reference, mine has been on the car since almost new and I have never had an issue in Arizona or Texas. When my factory warranty expired I bought an extended warranty. They inspected the car and didn't have an issue with the exhaust.

Good luck

Boeing Driver is infamous around these parts
Take it to Hennesy Porsche in Atlanta and see if they wont void your warranty for aftermarket exhaust, they are total *******s, they even sold and certified my car with the aftermarket exhaust on it then denied any warranty work because it was "modded" my point is Don't trust any Porsche dealer.

A dealer can't void your warranty. Only deny a warranty claim. Porsche can void the warranty but it wouldn't be due to a mod (salvage cars get the warranty void).

I don't think your leak is coming from where you circled. Oil leaks don't go "forward" like that first picture shows.

Did you have any other signs of an exhaust leak where the exhaust mated to the turbo?

Where I circled is where oil is coming out, its a bit hard to see in the pictures.

There is no oil in the exhaust or turbos (exhaust is off the car at the moment)
