Close to Tip/PDK 0-100 with a Manual?
Close to Tip/PDK 0-100 with a Manual?
So I have a manual trans 997.1 turbo and while I am in Germany it is awesome but when I head back to the states I am considering going to a PDK or even tip turbo for the 0-100mph acceleration capability.
Is there anything that you can do to a 6speed car to increase the acceleration from 0-100 other than learning to shift more efficiently? Any tuners have the ability to do a "launch" with the clutch in to make a consistent launch possible (meaning that I can floor it with the clutch in the just dump the clutch?
Better rear gear ratios?
I am never going to be a 200mph guy once I leave Germany so extreme top end isn't as important to me.

yes you can...
gt2 gears.. first gear longer than 997tt, with a taller tire might hit 60+mph
suspension work
better tires
lsd
no lift shift / wot shifting - a lot of tuners support that already
improved red line - just from a tune lets say 7500 rpms should work fine
launch control - 2step or some tuners offer other options too
rolling ALS
stiffer springs in the blow offs
a stand alone ECU would give a lot more options, launching and traction strategies...
just to name a few of your options..
i ve seen low 3s 0-100 with MT and high-mid 2s with TIPs on moderate powered cars and as low as 2.3s on high powered cars even on stock ECU

I had a vid of a race between my old 335i and a Kleeman AMG E55, I lost a car lenght per shift
(we did 50-200kmh) so I had two shifts.
put stiffer springs in the DVs that will help a lot for lag between shifts, but will put some stress on your turbos, it's so simple and works well
These cars are very hard to launch... keep that in mind... i am running now a 2step launch control @5700rpms as i use also reinforced axles and only RWD with R888s or MTs, dont know 0-100 yet but i can tell you that before was set @5000 rpms and it wasnt enough, had too much traction... i assume a 3.2-3.3s 0-100 running only RWD is doable on most launches using LC... a 1.6 or low 1.7 60ft should be like a flat 3s 0-100 give or take .. gt2 gears will help a lot 0-100kmh, after that no real big benefit besides the fact the gears are stronger
If you are looking for straight line performace a TIP or PDK can not be beaten.. the TIP can take a lot more abuse than PDK when built
