New Wheels - Question about TPMS

Just got my new set of wheels and tires in. I'm wondering as to what people opted to do when going with a new set in regards to TPMS. I was hoping to keep my old set of wheels/tires, but at this point, I am being quoted $1200 from the dealership for a new set of TPMS on the new set. I'm sorry but that is just plain ridiculous. Just to monitor tire pressure shouldn't cost as much as the tires. What have some of you done with regards to this? I do not want to drive around with TPMS light on. Thanks!

Many tire/wheel shops sell tpms online for roughly $80-100 per. Tirerack, discounttire, etc...

Fist of all, my TPMS was not all that accurate - 3 to 5 pounds off, and as I have said before, I have 2 tire gauges and an air compressor. I check pressure regularly and don't believe I needed the TPMS so I had my indy disable it following the DIY posted in a previous thread by BBYWU.

OE Wheels sells aftermarket sensors which works perfectly fine. Price is even better at $148 a set shipped. I paid $15/tire for install and balance. $200 and you are done!

Exactly. I used them too. Mine were about $200 a set and I paid $25 a tire, I feel so ripped off . Get them by mail order and take them to your shop.
Note that a 997.1 and .2 turbo both use 433 mhz sensors, but the sensors are not the same and will not work on both cars.

I never use the TPMS readings to check air pressure...but the readings will tell you if you have a leak or a flat - sometimes difficult to tell visually with low profile tires.

If you go with oe wheels make sure you call your dealer and get your oem part # (give them your vin). Then call them for the correct ones. I ordered online and installed the wrong ones. Now I have to change them out at my cost and have to pay shipping back and forth. Just a heads up.

Using the Durametric Pro and unplugging the TPMS control module, you can delete the system as if you never had TPMS.

Thanks for the reference. They had the best price in town, and they sell the OEM Huf-Group Intelisense sensors. If you're looking for sensors and want great service, talk to Gary at TPMS.com - super helpful. I called OE Wheels they actually are pulling their aftermarket line for the 911 becuase the aftermarket Sensors are extremely buggy and don't normally work (hence why they cost ~$70 each).

Thank you everyone for all your help. I'll post pics of the car with the new shoes once these sensors come in.
