Hey guys!I am waiting on the service department at my local Porsche dealership to give me the blessings on my potentially new to me 2010 997.2 turbo in white to make the deal. I have so many questions to ask I don't know where to even begin.
1. I want to add power to the car but coming from a 2013 camaro v6 I think stock power is more than enough of a boost ( I know I just contradicted myself in this sentence lol.) I'd love to hear every ones opinion on this one.
2. If I don't do anything to add power since everything that adds power to this car costs an arm and a leg, what about if I just do exhaust? I want to do a system that I don't need to tinker with anything else to make it sound way more aggressive. I don't want to start messing around with intercoolers and upgrading turbos because it digs too deep into my pockets. So exhaust is my biggest thing I'd love to do. So I'd love to hear your opinions on the best systems that would suit me. I liked the sound of the akrapovic slip on system but it's a bit expensive for me. Any alternatives guys?
3. I want to add a wing or replace a wing to the car. I really like the techart gt street r rear wing because I think it makes the car look so different and also makes it look so much more aggressive. You guys have any pics of what you've done about a spoiler/wing on your 997.2 turbo? I would love to see them!
In advance, I thank all of you for your responses and I can't wait to bring her home and show a ton of pics and progress I make with this Project.
I will be taking her on a rally this summer for charity called rally north America which I can not wait to show her off at.
First of all, Welcome, looks like a beautiful car . I would install a clear bra ( if it doesn't have one ) and drive it for a while .
Get used to the car and then take your time on the bolt ons.
Fun stuff ,
Enjoy
Thank you for the warm welcome! That's a good idea to drive the car a bit and get used to it. Especially when I have never been behind the wheel (aside for a track day in an aventador and a test drive in this car) with this much power.
Congrats and welcome! Great looking car. I agree about not rushing into mods. It's kinda cool to fully test and enjoy each change without swapping-out a ton of stuff all at once. Plus obviously that lets you spread-out the costs over whatever period of time you wish.
There are a zillion exhaust threads on here and other forums. Search is your friend on that question...
So before I even give the seller any money, the dealer who ran the ppi for me informed me there is a small leak coming from behind the water pump. He could not tell me what it was since it would require more than just a general inspection like a ppi. The guy selling the car says he's a mechanic and claims he checked it out himself and discovered it was pentosin (power steering oil) coming from the engine area. Do I walk away from this or continue to pursue this car? Is this something that I should be nervous about or its a minor thing in the big picture?

Car looks wicked, love a white turbo!
Best first mod (before exhaust) is a tune, and nothing beats the Cobb when all aspects is counted for.
But next up is definiately an exhaust, I like many others love the Kline, but a straight pipe x-pipe would be cool to

I would have a dealer fix this before buying the car, dont buy a car with known issues. There is so many 911's out there so if you're not a mechanical wizard, have it fixed before buying it.
And the perfect turbo must be a 2009 Mezger 6MT with option 220 (limited slip diff) and pcm3
Nice white one. It sounds like hopefully you can work with the seller and get it sorted. If I can help out let m know. From getting the car to what to do next. Good luck!

All the local Porsche specialist shops refuse to put a straight pipe on for me on my soon to be car! It makes sense why they don't want to but I want something that really sounds aggressive in an exhaust!
I've got one of our 70 mm systems that are pretty amazing. Try it with the SamboTT guarantee! I support you 100% if you're not happy...but I know you will be
Welcome to 6speed. That's a beautiful car congrats and hope you get the issue sorted.
As you now know, this car is brutally fast stock. Because you do any go-fast modifications, get used to it first. The stock exhaust sounds pretty bad I agree so if you want to change that out then cool...but wait a while until you do anything else.
SamboTT will take good care of you and help with the learning process. He represents the best Porsche vendors so he will only sell you the right product for what you ultimately want from the car.
I'm not just looking for a good deal. I'm looking for quality craftsmanship in an aggressive sounding exhaust system. This is not a cheap piece of machinery in a 997.2 turbo. I'm not going to cut corners on any portion of this car.
