Minor fuel system upgrade (pump/etc?)

My fuel system is stock except for 1300cc injectors, but it can't quite keep up on E85. I need something to get me through the summer, as i intend to upgrade the whole system next winter when I do the short block.

From what I understand just dropping in better pumps is not easy due to the basket configuration...

So what about a single booster pump outside the tank? Or running a BAP or similar to the factory pumps? Anybody done either?

I am not a huge fan of either.. but since I just need a little bit more, for a little bit longer.. and the proEFI seems to handle FP loss well (cuts boost, etc if I set warnings) I think I can survive...

i bought the silly rabbit stuff for my car but if you want a temporary solution i would give the BAP a try. i don't see why it wouldn't work well.

Not sure if applicable but in the N54 community several approaches was tested to upgrade the fuel pumps. The BAP just overdrives the pump and in the N54 case didnt help at all. Adding an inline pump worked quite ok and even if not as good as a replacement of the in-bucket pump still helped a lot.

Maybe adding an inline pump will keep you ok until you drop the engine for the build.

weird.. with 19VDC+ to the pump, it should spin harder. Of course.. if they are trying to get pressure greater than the relief valve it might not help.

I used a BAP on my Z06 and gained +100rw of fuel.

SRM is really nice. Ill see what it is gonna take ($) to do half now half later. If its crazy, ill find a used BAP or a 3rd pump I guess.

N54 fuel system is nothing like 997.1. The high pressure system is the limiting factor there.

Yea, just looked it up. N54 is DFI.. wont help if the low pressure system is at 19VDC

Sure but I was only reffering to the low pressure side of things. The first bottle neck on the n54 was on the low pressure side.

HPFP upgrading is a separate topic...

I agree with Mark that the BAP may give you what you need here. I got you if you want the SRM though. The nice thing about the proper SRM upgrade is that you can expand on it later.

problem is ill end up "wasting" 500$ on a dual BAP since we have two independent pumps, only to go SRM anyway next winter.

Back in college I rigged my alternator so that whenever the nitrous was active it raised the whole cars voltage to 16V. ha. It was funny you would see the dash/headlights/etc get a ****load brighter when it was active.

Cost about $1.
