Just got back from Shift Sector. Car misfired all day Saturday - too much octane. Running pure MS109 and meth. Sunday filled up with good 'ol Shell 91 and switched to pump map and car performed much better no misfires.


Anyway here's a teaser of one of my runs:

 

i doubt it's octane causing your miss, and the easiest way to find out is to run 109 on your pump map.

Any idea what 60-130mph run the 918?

 

That's what GIAC said as well but I put in some 91 anyway.


The misfires were at the top end only. Anyway trapped 2mph higher on Sunday. The car did not like race mode. No worries going to GIAC for some updates anyway

 

That's awesome! To be able to run even with a 918 up to roughly 100mph is incredible

 

Sounds like ignition to me. Meth is very hard for a plug to spark through. I also sometimes have ignition issues only up top- and I spray a ton of meth. 20% of my fueling comes from methanol.

Hasn't let me down in the last 30k miles, but it does missfire heavily on some occasions.

 

Interesting. Do you notice a difference depending on how much octane you are running?

 

Not that I ever remembered. I usually run 109 during racing, just for safety. What is strange about my situation is the fact that after a few runs the misses are gone. The missing is the worst on the first few runs. Its almost like the plugs need to be run hard to come up to temp, because the meth cools them down so quickly.

Who knows!

Thanks it was a very tough place to launch. Very dusty and the launch pad was on top of a partially painted surface. I had to modulate the throttle and some other stuff. Not a straight WOT launch control event. I was getting the 991 Turbos by bus-lengths on the launch so I figured it was time to try against the 918!

Agreed he was having a blast and was vid'ing the runs. Some of his comments are priceless I need to make a vid of those

Yeah these cars are crazy fast stock. I think after a fuel system upgrade and some more top end boost I can close the gap. Something is in the works now
