Agency Power (eBay) beware of fitment and terrible customer support

Agency Power item purchased on ebay

Well I ordered a carbon wing for my new 997tt from these guys, thinking how hard is it to screw up a wing with 2 mounting point right? Boy was I wrong. The fitment on this thing is possibly the worst I have ever seen in any carbon part, and I’ve purchased my fair share of carbon knockoffs before. Dropped the car off at the shop for the day to make it fit, only to get a call saying return this carbon wing ASAP. One of the metal threading nuts sits so far into the wing that the stock bolt doesn’t even reach it. It’s a good ¼” off when compared to the other mounting point. The shop said the only way to make it work was to drill it all out and re-epoxy the whole thing over. At this point I am thinking not that big of a deal, I am out of $300 for labor and a day at the shop that the car is gone… I figured Agency would just swap the wing out.

Hope you guys ready for part 2… After explaining several times to their vendor and Agency directly the issue these guys refused to acknowledge that there is anything wrong with their product. I couldn’t believe some of the BS excuses their customer service guy gave me.

“We don’t quality test fit products before they leave because that would make them used”.

Hands down the worst customer service in the industry. I am glad I found out now before I ordered any more stuff from them.

Edited with some pictures showing a measurement for each mounting point. Factory threads start at .05 on factory wing. Agency power wing one hole is at .27 other is at .4 before threads start. Factory bolt needs minimum of .3 to start threading, and that's to just to barely hold it.

I was forwarded this post and its very concerning. As the owner of both companies, this is not the norm. We have sold probably a 100 of these over the last 5 years and never have had a fitment issue. Anything is possible. I am more concerned with the service you received. Please email me your name, a invoice number, who you talked to, etc and we will address this situation IMMEDIATELY - dan at vividracing dot com

Dear Sir, I was just informed by my sales guy about your issue. I guess you PM'd instead of emailing as requested above ^. Trying to help you the best I can, but would be easier to not have a 3 step communication problem. The wing was not purchased from us at Vivid Racing but bought off eBay from a seller called "mycustomers1st". So without checking with Agency Power, I have no idea if this is a valid part or dealer. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AGENCY-POWER...RRIRTB:US:3160.

So the title of this post is a little misleading as Vivid Racing did not sell any part or have to do with this transaction. Agency Power is a completely seperate company. With that being said, the guys over there are VERY good with customers and issues. Please let me know if you have talked to ANYONE over at Agency Power so I can have them address the issue and find out who this wing was sold to before it ended up in your hands. My email is above.
Dan

I sent you a PM. I talked to Agency Power directly about this whole thing. You guys list it as your "sister company".

You sent Austin who manages this forum a PM. I requested nicely in my first post to email me details. Sister company, same owners, etc, its a seperate operating entity and does not relate to Vivid Racing. So the title of this post is a little unfair. As far as Agency Power, please email me pictures and whom you spoke to over there so I can get that management team on top of the issue to find a resolution for you. I would be curious to know if you talked to the original retailer as well. You can forward all correspondence to me via email. I have also notified the admins about the post so it stays factual.

Agency made the product. Product came from Agency defective, I called and dealt with Agency directly. Ebay vendor told me everything has to go though Agency. Make your own conclusions.

Agency wants me to jump through hoops to get this "warrantied".

you purchased the item from "Power & Performance" an eBay seller no ?

Isn't your gripe with them ? Since when does a private party have to deal with the manufacturer ?

all these ebay sellers are just distributors, all warranty still goes via Agency. I tried to deal with the seller, he forwarded me Agency's instructions. Ebay seller would not do anything without Agency picking up the replacement. If the eBay seller is not standing behind the product (he is not), Agency should. After i called and spoke with Agency direct it became apparent what kind of a operation this is. They simply don't care. 99% of the time if a basic in stock item comes defective they will send you a new one, you send the old one back and thats the end. Agency wants to hit me with shipping fees, (possibly 25% restocking fee now they are saying "up to"), then they want my bodyshop to try to re-thread the spoiler (when this is not even the problem issue) and just a bunch of hoops and time wasted. At the same time telling me there is nothing wrong and they have never had a bad product as its impossible yet they don't test fit any products or have quality control because that would make the items "used".

anyway, i hope the rest can learn from this i am sure my CC will get the $$ back and i am just out of time and $300 labor. Glad i didn't drop $3k on their exhaust and carbon intake. I am calling Champion

When I have a warranty issue I still demand that the distributor deal with the manufacturer to make it right ..

When you have an issue with Porsche under warranty do you call the parent company in Germany or demand your local dealer deal with it ...

Sorry but I don't agree ... but good luck man - hope it works out ....

trust me i went back and fourth with the seller for 3 days. Every single time he just copy/paste Agency's response and forwarded me Agency's instructions. Between half a dozen sports cars in the garage i must have ordered 100 parts just this year alone, i have enough carbon to build a house out of. I know the drill

I still have never got an email to help the customer as requested. I have put my email here twice now. I have also got the actual phone call recordings. Will be more than happy to assist you reasonably. I have been on this forum since 2006 and have helped and supported members through thick and thin. No matter what you do, what cars you own, there is no need to throw that around as its irrelevant. I have owned and personally used tested many of these products. So as a former 997TT owner, I understand the attention to detail you desire.

something is just not right when the guy in charge has to beg you to let him help you out. There's two sides to every story, so it's not exactly fair to let just one side linger here on the forum. (my two cents)
