Boost on stock vtgs

I'm curios to see how much boost stock vtgs can handle on a car with full bolt ons....ams y pipe ..5.5 inch coolers 82 mm gt3 TB do88 turbo inlet pipes...3 inch exaust...this car has plenty of air to throw around but on 93 oct what can the stock vtgs do....right now garth has them at ...... 17.5 lbs.... What's everyone's opinions.....

17.5 (1.2bar) is pretty much the stock map limit I believe.. Mine with fewer mods than you peaks at 1.44br (21psi) and tapers off from there but thats due to the tune and not the turbos ability to move air..
Not sure what the stock turbos "max" is..

Are you sure you are only pushing 17.5 psi? Is that max or at redline?

My car runs 21-22 psi flat across the board on 93. The map sensor shows this holding all the way to 7k rpm. On E85, it runs up to 24 psi in the 5-6k range, a bit less on either side of that rpm range. The turbos are capable of more, but no more power was made on the dyno on my car after that (660 awhp).

I'm not sure ..I think he said 17.5 because the whole car was pretty much stock except for a bull**** cargraphic exaust ams y pipe and coolers...car made 494 hp
And 515 torque on a mustang dyno........now that I've added do88 ...82mm idp
Gt3 TB....I feel like these mods are going to be able to push some more boost..just curios how much more......btw fabworx also built me a wicked header and 3 inch exaust set..so plenty of exaust out also...

Since then I have added the do88 inlet pipes and gotten a new version of my tune that allows a little more load..

Coming from the 996T that reads to 1.6BAR, I thought when I got 1.2 max on my 997 that it was the max boost Protomotive had me on. Only when I called Todd he told me about the 1.2 BAR max on the dash display and then I logged 19-19.5 psi on 94 pump and 20.5-21.5psi's. Again that is on 63.5mm VTG'S.

Thanks

Bobby Ali

I think the way tuners tune cars ...is that they look at what mods you have...so on a stock car they only hit 17 lbs....if you a few more maybe they'll do 17.5.....
When you have full bolt-ons they can hit 21-22 lbs.......that car has so many bottle necks its not funny,,,,but as you start opening the motor with air you can push more boost..

I log 21.5 on stock VTGS running E85, GT2RS coolers, 3" exhaust.

Garth know his stuff, have you spoken to him about it?
