Need Help Reading DME on 997 Turbo

Hello everyone,

Big fan of the 997 Turbo,
Finally I can buy one.

I am about to buy a 2007 Porsche 997 Turbo From the Porsche Dealer in Edmonton.

I am In Toronto, So therefore I can't drive the car before buying etc. It will be shipped to me.

Relying on Porsche's PPI and inspection.
I asked for Compression test, they said they don't do that for their used cars....strange

Car is a 2007 997 Turbo 6speed. 83,000 KM

Mods:
-ECU tune(They don't know what company)
-Light Flywheel (again, Porsche has no clue on type, brand etc)
-Upgraded Exhaust
-Upgraded Intakes.

They have supplied me with the DME readout,
Can you please help me read this??

1-4 has a lot of readings,
5 & 6 are clear.
Total hours 1437

Thank you guys,
Milo

Does 5-6 range mean they bounced it off the rev limiter while in a gear? ...Or worse, like a missed 2-3 shift (accidentally putting it in 1st)?

RPM range for each of the Rev Ranges below. I was told that any values in range 3 or lower are considered acceptable. Range 4 and above are red flags if the counts are high. You numbers look good, range 4 counts are not high (engine ran ~3 sec in that range).

Isn't the Rev limiter at 6500?
Isn't rev up to 8400 really bad for car?
The Porsche manager is saying it was 1300 hrs ago. or 10,000km ago, how does he figure that?
What does that mean?
Their saying if something would have broke, it would have happened by now...

Doesn't it hit fuel cut, pull timing or bounce off rev limiter once it hits redline? How does it get that far above redline to trigger anything past a range 3?

The car has an ecu tune... Which always raise the rev limiter.
This DME is ok..

Fuel cut off by DME does not mean that the car is incapable of over-reving. I have scanned 8 Porsches, mix of Caymans and 997 911s, every car that is used for HPDE or has the DME tuned shows some level of over-revs. DME tunes don't have to raise the rev limit, but many do.

If you want to roughly translate operating hours into miles, you can assume an average speed of 35mph (~50kph) which is typical for a car driven in mix conditions of local and highway. Just divide the hours by 35 or 50.

I see nothing of concern in the scan report on the car. No surprise that they won't do a compression test, there is probably 4-5 hours labor involved in getting a compression test on a turbo.

According to the table posted, Range 4 starts at 7900 rpm which equals 131.67 rps (divide rpm by 60) - with 3 ignitions per revolution at 7900 rpm you would have 395 ignitions per second - your reading was 465 ignitions which is equal to about 1.18 seconds in the range.
