Race Tech Forged Owes Me $5000
Race Tech Forged Owes Me $5000
The short and sweet.
- Purchased a set of wheels for my '12 Turbo Centre Lock.
- They arrived (after a long delay).
- They didn't fit (hub too narrow so they were loose despite torquing CL nut down to spec).
- Raz was very apologetic, told me to send them back
- I sent them back AT MY OWN EXPENSE
- They didn't refund the money, despite multiple calls and emails (kept giving me the run around saying that they issued the refund to my visa, but this was a lie, never saw a dime)
- I live in Canada, they are in California, basically impossible for me to recoup the money by legal means.
So buyer beware!!!

And the kicker, Visa refuses to help.
I called Visa when the wheels were 2 months late and put a dispute on the charge. Race Tech Forged then sent the wheels and provided proof to Visa that they were sent. Visa subsequently reversed their refund to me and re-payed Race Tech Forged. Now this is the amazing part..... there is some Visa no reason policy that they won't open up a second dispute for the same purchase. I had some very colourful conversations with Visa about how absurd this is but got nowhere. Visa refuses to help any further. I'm fooked.

Sorry to hear. I had plenty of interaction and conversation that made me very leary to purchase from them. So glad I let my conscious rule and walked away.
Good luck with your dispute. I know other have had issues, maybe do a search on here or RL.

Can you hire an attorney in CA to file in small claims court against them?

This just sounds like laziness. This is america. Of course you can sue them.
If this is the whole story, this stuff makes me want to throw up!!
I know it seams like a lot of work and not worth it, BUT JUST FOR MORAL SAKE, TAKE THIS AS FAR AS YOU CAN!! By taking all necessary legal steps and getting the word out there on every forums that mentions their name!
The niche for this "up scale" market is pretty small and tight. For a newer companies in this market to do this sort of thing, is very short sighted and foolish!
I actually really like there Race Spec 5 wheels as a alternative to the P101 and BBS Fi's. Their wheels just looked more aggressive, but not sure of the cost as I am still waiting for a email response from them over 2 months ago.
Spending this type of $$, I don't need to put up with service like this, let alone what happened to you.
Hope fully some other 6Speed member that lives in CA can offer assistance in getting the ball rolling?
By you taking this as far as you can, because most importantly it is just right morally, but second it saves other people from this EVIL!
Hope the best for you.

Its unfortunate that these wheel company issues just keep coming up and keep coming up. I have seen a handful of these threads over the past 10 years, bunch of these companies are literally Ponzi schemes.
This is why I stick with HRE and BBS and buy only from reputable dealers. I can understand why people go to the smaller brands tho, HREs pricing has skyrocketed past 10k for a set of wheels.... heck even a nice BBS set is 7k plus.

I may be incorrect, but I thought that by the time this made it through any kind of court proceedings that the better part of the 5k would be used up. If anyone can recommend council I'd love to at least have the convo to see what my chances are.
Google says its 50$ to file a small claims court complaint in CA. That's just a court fee tho. I don't think an attorney would charge much to file.
" There's a $30 filing fee for a case asking for up to $1,500; $50 for a claim over $1,500 and up to $5,000; and $75 for a claim over $5,000. "

The laziness was in not doing my due diligence on this company. In looking around more now there is some evidence out there that I'm not alone. Shame on me for thinking I could save a few bucks, the wheels looked great, and I was only going to use them for cruising around and looking good, I have a set of forgelines for track duty.

I am not sure if the US works like Canada, but they shouldn't be that different.
Considering it is small claims court & not regular court you should be able to use a paralegal instead of a lawyer saving $$.
I quickly found this on the net for you:

Hope this at least get that first step started to justice.

Yea, in hindsight there were all kinds of warning signs. I feel stupid for not listening to them.
Thank you! This will get me started. I honestly just assumed that there was no chance. I'll start the process here and let you guys know how it goes.
