I acquired my first Aston Martin three months ago and have a problem I haven't been able to find in a thread. My battery is dead and NOTHING works. I can't get the seatback to release to access the battery compartment. Also, the boot release doesn't work and the Operators Manual is in the boot. How can I move the seat in order to charge or replace the battery?
There is a way on Astons to get power back so that the doors, trunk, etc can be accessed. It takes a little work. Some models have different accesses but pretty much similar.
Aston leaves the battery compartment with the +12v cable underneath the car. There is a terminal junction that emerges around the right front wheel before it enters the engine compartment. That terminal junction is a bolt that connects two segments of the +12v cable. At that point you could connect a 12v supply (+ on the cable connection bolt, - to ground). Then the entire car should be powered enough to get everything open and the seat motor to work.
It will take a little work. On my car, I have to remove the right front wheel and the wheel well liner (not a terribly big job, but work). This exposes the +12v cable coming from the battery.
Not the clearest pic, but this is the cable with my well liner removed.
Here is a photo of the manual seat back release (slide fingers under and lift up) on my 2014 Vantage roadster. I'm not aware of a manual way to move the seat bottom forward. Good luck with the battery power! View from back....strap can be accessed from front or back.
I have the same vehicle and charge the battery with a CTEK MXS 5.0 charger (£63 paid) with a CTEK cigarette lighter adapter (56-263) (about £16) and plug into the port in the ashtray - problem solved if you need to charge the battery (I have mine plugged in constantly when garaged). The CTEK chargers can also do battery repair. If you can get into the boot then you could also charge using the port in there too. Good luck!
Thanks to all who responded. I was able to reach behind the seat and connect a battery charger, Once the battery was charged I was able to accesses the boot I connected a recently purchased CTEC battery maintainer. No problems with starting the car now. But I now have two new problems. I can't operate the roof, I have a "Roof Failure Detected message and a Alarm System Service Required message. I'm currently researching threads concerning how to deal with these issues.
Great news that you now got it charged and starting. For the roof failure you should do a window reset/learn as a first step to see if this resolves the issue. You will find threads on here and elsewhere online regarding this
Foolishly let the battery die in my V8VR too and getting into it was a pain! Managed to finally pop the window under the drivers door seal to get in and pop the bonnet, then connected my new CTEK to the terminals under there and left if for a day. Got it all up and running again no worries and now I’m sure to plug it into the boot lighter socket to make sure it doesn’t happen again!
