Engine Stall when Coasting Issue
Engine Stall when Coasting Issue
Hi all,
I've searched the forums before and seen loads of posts since the Gaydon era Vantage came out up to 2016 that have an issue when you coast to a stop, it will stall.
Instead of reviving older forums - I thought it is best to make a new one!
In the 20 years of the cars existence - has anyone found a fix yet?
Is it needing new fuel lines or to a catch can or is it just a quirk of the car?
Is it a fuel pump design? Do we need to get aftermarket Walbro pumps etc?
Thanks all

I don't think getting an ECU tune fixes it as it happens to someone in America with a heavily modified Vantage. Engine swap time
Yes I was told by a very reputable tech at a huge dealership that it is known is and it was never resolved..
they did seem to find it was happening under the same circumstances often after a long highway drive then exiting and coming to a stop.
tuned and untuned it happens.

At least I now know there's not a giant cosmic black hole causing an EMP near my house lol
Holy ****. This happened to me but in exactly the same spot. I thought it was some Bermuda triangle like thing because the engine died in he same intersection, on two different occasions, but now I think about it, it was right after doing a decent drive on the highway and coming to a stop at that intersection after exiting.

I've never had it happen to me in 8 years of ownership, but my drives are generally under about an hour or two
I've had my 2009 V8V from new. This happened to me about 3 years ago -- decelerating on an exit after about 15 minutes on a highway, the engine shut down when I stepped on the clutch pedal as I approached the stop sign. It did it again a few days later, so I knew it wasn't a fluke. I called my dealer, who told me to do a "reset" (I don't remember exactly what I was resetting). As I recall, the procedure was: From 70 mph in top gear, decelerate (foot fully off the throttle) to 30 mph, without touching the brakes, and preferably in a straight line. Then accelerate up to 70 and repeat. Do this a total of 5 times. I went out at night on a highway that I expected to be pretty empty and, being careful that no one was behind me, went through the process. It worked -- it never stalled again.

Is it still happening to you? If it is then we can do some tests with what Speedraser has said!
Some people over at Pistonheads say having a remap by BR (Bamford Rose) has fixed their issue BUT with what Speedraser is saying - I reckon BR does the misfire correction procedure as well?
