Custom Audio Installs!?

Hi Guys... I know a lot of you hate the thought adding extra weight on your cars, but I love great sounding audio and thumping bass while I drop the hammer.

Anyone have pics of their custom installs?

I could really use some good ideas.

I have a Jl Audio 12 inch W7 and 1000/1 amp. I took this out of my M3, but think it might be too big and too heavy for a 997 TT.

Advice is appreciated.

You will have an issue with the 997TT because the can bus is connected into the PCM. Many functions are in the unit as far as control goes. If you rmove it you will loose some of the fuctions within the car and will cause fault codes that can not be cleared.

Check out using a Rockford 360.2. You can maintain the factory dash unit and add amplifiers, speakers, etc. It works great. I have it in my CLS55.

Or, if you want to stay with JL, pick up a CL441dsp.

You could use a JL Audio Cleansweep to add the sub and amp and you wouldn't have to mess with anything involving the MOST system or give Rick a call @ Reus audio, he has a system for the 997. 800-276-8865

that amp would be a huge drain on the power supply in your 997.... and the W7 is HUGE... go with a couple 10's or 8's and a smaller amp.. get the JLAudio Cleansweep to intergrate it into the system... sell the stuff you have now

Cleansweep is great, but the 360.2 gives you way more eq and time alignment. Ditto the comment with regards to the W7 and mondo amp. A pair of 10's or 8's in the proper enclosure will haul ***.

If you're worried about a drain on your power system, get a capacitor. You're running a 1000 watt amp, get a 1 farad capacitor or bigger. I believe someone was selling a 15 farad alumapro cap not too long ago.

A cap will store enough energy that when your subs REALLY use a lot of power, your lights don't dim, etc..
