Gallardo for sure ! I think it is all around a better car and a lot more exotic then the Aston Martin Vantage. Also the Gallardo is going to hold it value a lot better then the Aston Martin. Good luck !

As much as I love the Vantage, this is a no brainer...GALLARDO no questions asked

Vantage - try taking the Gallardo away for a week end trip. Or for that matter anywhere with more than a laptop (OK laptop plus her extra T-back). Also G car is not holding value any better than the rest of the exotics - so suck up the ego and buy a "slightly used" whatever - save the money for the next cool car - hate to say it but you will be shopping again in 2 years. At 24 you will have many more cars - advice like a Dad but listen to this grasshopper ! Also - G car @ $260 Vantage @$130 (less whatever you deal on out the door) - big difference.
Another thought - women over 35 - AM; under 35 - F or G cars - informal survey from various very desirable arm candies from Cherry Hill !!!

Whatever your choice - have fun in it - don't leave it in the garage !!!

Gallardo is in a whole different league than the Vantage. I mean if we were talking DB9 or DBS, then I would have to think. But I'd take the Gallardo over the Vantage in a heart beat.

I love the G-car, but the key phrase mentioned is "high mileage". Warranty is out, so you have to do your research to see what the maintenance costs of the car are going to be. Replacing the clutch about $3k if done at the dealership, brakes ??, oil change and servicing interval costs???
The 07 Vantage will still retain its warranty for three years unlimited miles.
Also, the G-car is VERY attention grabbing, whilst the Vantage is subtle in its presentation. I agree , though, a G-car has to be in yellow or orange

You should ask yourself what you are looking for in the car. For example are you wanting a performance based exotic or a more mild mannered everyday touring car?

I own a v8, but have driven a few Gallardos and I prefer the AM. Not as fast, but way more usable, better looking in my eyes and certainly draws just as much attention if thats your thing. In big markets with lots of exotics the AM is even more rare than the G. AM brakes better, handles as well and has a warranty. Just my .02 worth.

they are really different cars. For me, I chose the vantage since I want a more daily driver that does not attract as much attention and that I can take on longer weekend trips. Money was not a factor in my decision.

I would take my old Vantage, modified as it was, over an 04 Gallardo. If the choice was between an 06 Gallardo and a Vantage, and the cost was within $10K (it's not), I'd go with the newer, improved and faster Gallardo, but that's probably because I've been there, done that with the Vantage, and I'm a speed fiend. If you want a beautiful, unique car, in and out (even the Gallardo guys drooled over the AMV8's interior), and you're not concerned with speed or street racing, the AMV8 has few peers.
