Wavy rear bumper?

I have always noticed that my rear bumper (above the liscence plate) has a couple waves. It literally looks like the car had been in an accident if you look closely.

The service manager at the local AM dealer told me they come off the showroom looking like it.....some worse than others. Seems unacceptable.

Has anyone noticed this, and if so found a fix?

Thanks!

I noticed this above the cover pieces next to the license plate. Not sure of any fix though.

Look at the bumper at different angles in the light. Once you notice it, it becomes obvious all the time unfortunatly. At least on mine.....

The waves in the trunk (boot) lid are more noticeable to me. Almost ever V8V that I have seen has distortion on the trunk lid.

Interesting, I have never noticed this. Mine looks fine on the trunk lid.

I should not say never. I think AM has addressed this on newer models.

Agree on that one. I didn't notice it for several months. Now my attention always turns to the slight dimple on the bumper when I look at the back end. Not the end of the world though because the casual observer is unlikely to notice.

Going down the road at 140mph nobody will ever see it. There is no perfect car.

Mine has it. I noticed it the first time I saw my car. Not a major issue but still annoying.

Agreed. Not a major problem by any means and pales in comparison to how much I love this car. But, would be interesting to see if anyone tried to get it out.

I am meeting with the AM service manager next week and will be taking a lok.

If you are refering to the dents on either side of the top on the trunk (boot), I had heard from the dealer these were do to the glue they use on the inside of the trunk attaching the panel. They had fixed mine by cutting the glue.

Still no fix I have heard of for the wavy rear bumper though that so many cars have.

Sometimes I wish that I did not notice all defects. Just makes me want to get in her that much quicker

I notice that I have waves along the top edge of the rear bumper where it meets the driver side quarter panel. My dealer said this was normal too. But I very much doubt that and currently contesting this with the GM. I'm hoping they will say to bring it to a repair shop and they will front the bill. But that's wishful thinking.

Reviving this thread to see if anyone has found a solution! Seems like a lot, if not most Vantages have this issue..
