AMV8 - Brake pads & brake dust

The factory brake pads produce way too much dust. I can't stand it anymore after 6K miles. I still have plenty of pads left but can someone please recommend low dust pads for regular street driving that are not harsh on the rotors? I saw online some EBC pads for front but they don't seem to make rear pads. I don't know if they are any good. Dealer said if I change it will void brake warranty but I don't care anymore cause after 10-20 miles the wheels look like trash with brake dust. Thanks!

The rear EBC red stuff pads are DP31140C. They don't have the slot for the brake wear indicators but that is no big deal for me. I will be installing them next week.

I know about the brake dust. I don't know which wheels you have, but I have the 20 spoke wheels, making cleaning even more difficult. I just picked up a bottle of the Armor All stuff and am going to give it a try.

Thanks, Jay Davis. Looks like the Armor All wheel protectant is the answer based on these tests:
http://brakeduststudy.blogspot.com/

I am getting a bottle to spray the heck out of my Aston wheels.

I just purchased the Armor All Wheel Protectant last week and used it for the first time over the weekend. I only have about 100 miles or so since I sprayed the stuff on but I think it works! The spray is a clear aerosol and I accidentally missed a small part on the front drivers side wheel which is now discolored. I will report back again next week after I have more miles on the car but I think the stuff works.

Yeah, I think the Armor All stuff works based on everything I read. At least I don't have to change to aftermarket brake pads and make the dealer throw a fit and void my warranty. Other cars likes Porsche and bmw also produce lots of brake dust but you can buy better aftermarket brake pads easily unlike Aston.

the dealer can't void your warranty because you change brake pads, or even take the car to get serviced elsewhere. There are laws that protect you from that.

Dealer will void warranty related to the brakes only if I change them but not void for entire car.

My dealer actually gave me the contact on where to order Pagid pads for my 09 Vantage and is not only installing the pads for me but removing the pad sensors for the pads I'm installing. They will also be bleeding the brakes and putting in higher temp. brake fluids for the track. You should have no issue with your warranty installing after market pads. Sport Cats, now that's a different story all together.

echo220 - Can you share where you are getting Pagid from and what "color" ? I am running Hawk right now and they are working pretty well. Also went with high temp fluid. Depending how track crazy you get check out RSC brake cooling kit. I have that on my car and helped at track too w/ high temp fluid.

The dealer is giving you a load of crap saying non stock pads would void your warranty. If you had a warranty related brake problem, the dealer would have to prove the pads caused the problem.

BTW, FWIW, I think the Vantage brakes are the same as the Ferrari F430 (non carbon ceramic version) because at least for the EBC pads the part numbers are the same. That might open up some more options.

Got a new set of Pagid Blue 4-2 installed in the front and a new set of stock pads installed in the rear. Ordered the Pagid Blue's from Craig at Rennstore in Washington state and had it shipped to Canada in 3 days including a day of customs hold up. His email is craigcarolann@comcast.net and his contact number is 425-765-1090. They didn't have the rears in stalk and no idea when it would be produced or else I would have ordered a pair of Blue 4-2 for the rear as well. Just for comparison, the Pagid Blue's for the front were $230 compared to the factory rears at $790 from the dealer. Maybe if enough of us ask for the Pagid Blue rears, they would do a manufacturing run of them. Got the dealer to chamfer the leading edge of the front pads to reduce noisy squealing for the street. The factory rear pads already come with the leading edge chamfered. Had no squealing issues yet. The dealer also tied off the brake pad sensors for all 4 wheels and changed the fluid. I should be good to go for the next track day. If I have fade issues as the day progresses, I'll look into RSC front brake cooling kit. Hope this helps.
