As much as I love my Vantage, I think it's time to move on. She's given me 3.5 years of joy. But how do you replace the most beautiful car in the world (IMHO)? If you had to trade/sell your Vantage today, and wanted to outlay zero additional cash, what would you get?

Naturally given depreciation the class of car won't quite be Aston Martin levels, but there are plenty of good bangs for the buck out there. I've toyed with the idea of a ridiculously modified 135i 6-spd or maybe an Audi S4/5. Other ideas?

As much as I love Audi(we have two), S4 is a great looking car, the seats are very nice. S5 is cool too, but it is hard to compare cars that are in different category. If no additional cash, pre-owned 911?

3 months ago, 20k miles/07 tip was asking $95k, I am now seeing $93K for 13k miles for an 08. But there is a big range in price. I am thinking early Jan would be a perfect time to buy a low miles TT

Nothing. I just sold my '08 through a broker and his words were "I can't imagine getting a better car for this money". In other words, without any financial contribution, you will be stepping down in style, class and possibly performance. I would say the closest you would come to satisfaction may be a boxster spyder. I thought about one as an interim but it looks like my V12V will be here this year. I would consider keeping it if I were you. Add a mod or two if you want to mix things up. If there were no V12V, I would have kept my car and added some candy. My 2c.

Funny you should say this Jay. I just drove the Boxster Spyder....phenominal car. Excellent on the track.

Does not have the presence/feel of the AM though.

Yes, after reading about the Boxster Spyder in C&D I am intrigued. I've always liked the way the Boxster handled.

Without going out of pocket, it's going to be hard to find a suitable replacement. For me, the only car I would exchange my Aston for would be a Ferrari, and that would require extra cash (unless I went with an older model).

Are you looking for something more sporty or luxury oriented?

Great alternatives
I too would fancy a Boxter Spyder in your position. Look in their 6Speed Forum. There is a white car in great detail. Exterior has a good "look". A "faster" windshield and lower overall height roof line, a unique soft top and lighter weight. But the interior has material and appearance compromises that may disappoint after the refinement of your Vantage. Deeper into their Forum is an all black car with white rocker stripe. It has dark BBS wheels...outstanding! Wheel Enhancement is the sponsor. Their pics should sell a lot of black Spyders and wheels. Another alternative for you, one I have taken, is to modify/refine your Vantage, minmizing its shortfalls, making a better car and keeping it "fresh". I am doing this, playing auto industry designer/engineer, but with my money and time and brain engaged. It's a hobby, fun and personally rewarding.

I thought about just modding the Vantage, but I'm hesitant to pour more $$$ into a car that I know I won't keep that long. I like to change things up once in a while.

As for luxury vs. sport - I think I lean more towards the sport side with the ability to mod. The Vantage is hard to mod without spending a ton of cash, plus I didn't really want to mess with perfection (other than a few more ponies).

This is why something like the Boxster Spyder or BMW of some sort appeals because there are just *so* many mods you can do and it won't completely drain your wallet.

Buy a Z06 if you are more inclined to sport and cheap upgrades.
But i agree with the other people that you should keep the vantage.

I'm w/ Tahoe. . . . M3! If I were to get a current M, it would be the sedan, as it appeals to me visually, much more so than the coupe. You should be able to break even w/ that (give or take a little depending on what you want in options).
outside BMW, I really like RS4's (you'd still have 20k leftover to mod w/), or even a GT3 for a little extra

Sorry guys but I can't even imagine comparing a boxster and vantage. I understand that the new boxster spyder is nice but the vantage has so much more class and style. I would keep the vantage for sure... like others have said, if you get bored, add some wheels, exhaust, and drop
