I like to keep mine low on the windshield, so I put a small strip of industrial strength Velcro next to the windshield slightly left of center and a small strip near the back of the V-1, and just stick it there--- it works very well.

I couldn't figure out a good location for it either as the windshield is at a severe angle to the mirror. I also didn't want it hanging from the mirror as I felt it looked weird in the AM. I ended up getting a Passport cordless. Obviously the range and features aren't nearly as good as the V1 but it looks good as I can almost hide behind my mirror. Function has been good. Just need to change the batteries on a regular basis.

Hardwire it, mount the unit with the suction cups to the upper left corner of the windshield, then run the wires from the headliner, down the A-pillar, to the fusebox or other (accessory powered line) This way the radar automatically turns on when the car is started.

I was most interested in where to tap in to get power. I think the fuse box is behind the seat.

I forget who posted this on another thread but I had it copied as a note for when I install mine ...

"I was told by my dealer to NOT go through the map lights. I took my time, threaded the wire accross the upper windshield, down the pillar and into the "test circuit" wire cluster (driver foot well) the dealer told me to use for power - my Escort now turns on and off w/ the ignition. I used an individual ground stud too, again all what the dealer recomended. They will also do the job for customers that are all thumbs."

hope it helps.

I mounted my Passport in center just under RV mirror, w/ advice from my dealer just as WG_moots described. Has been working great for 3 Yrs. They also said do not wire thru map lights.
FYI - I did replace map light bulbs and other interior lights w/ cool "Bluish" LEDs (matches dash lights) - much better/brighter lighting - again about 3 Yrs ago and no issues.

Wg_moots: could you provide a bit more detail on the test circuit you were able to tap into for keyed power? Location of the wiring loom, color of the wire? Thanks

Valentine now sells a device that plug right into your OBCD plug and will provide power to your device. It also has a feature where you can set a speed and any radar alerts below the set speed will be automatically muted. At one time a small company had a similar device that would mute all signals below 25mph, had it in a M3. Very usefull! The easy power supply alone makes it work the $60 cost.
