Passenger Window

New to the forum, and have a somewhat tricky inquiry. I just picked up my V8V after installing the full performance package from RSC. (By the way, I just emailed Stuart and told him how truly epic the upgrades are, and that they totally remake this car). It is probably coincidence, but my passenger window is not working. I asked Stuart if this might be a quirk of the ECU remap, but he indicated that he has never encountered that before. Does anybody else have any thoughts, or had to diagnose this in the past? Thanks.

Might be a simple fuse, so I would check that first. If the window partially works (i.e. doesn't go up or down completely), there is a procedure that goes something like this:
  1. Push the window button until the window goes all the way down
  2. Hold the button down for 5 - 10 seconds
  3. Push the window button until the window goes all the way up
  4. Hold the button for 5 - 10 seconds

This should reset the mechanism that controls the window.

Unfortunately, the window is not responding at all. I was thinking fuse, but wonder if both windows and/or other operations are on the same circuit. Definitely something to check--

Hmm, weird. I bet it is a coincidence. Where did you have the items installed, LFSC?

Had all the work done at North Coast Exotics in Cleveland. Earl Gibbs and his crew specialize in British and Italian cars, and have been friends of the family for several decades.

Rumster. The door modules can get a bit confused sometimes (bless them) especially if the battery has been on & off...the best thing is to "hard reset" the door module in question by removing the door trim panel & pulling the three connectors off, leaving it a few seconds, plug it back in & see if anything has started working. You'll then need to do the "reset" procedure listed in the previous post. It's essentially the same as disconnecting the battery but even though that is easy to do, it'll reset all the engine adaptations & misfire information so it's best just to go right to the source. The door trim panel comes off pretty easily, if you're not comfortable doing it, the chaps who worked on it last shouldn't have a problem doing what's written above. I have seen a door module have an internal failure where it wouldn't allow a window to go down (went up okay). Hope this helps. Cheers, John.

I am actually flying back home from being out of the country, but will see about implementing your suggested fix when I get home. The passenger window will not activate using either switch--driver side or passenger side. Do you think that the reset might still do the trick?

Looking at the fuse box diagram in the manual, it lists fuse F82 in the cabin fuse box as "Passenger Door Module." Each door has a separate 25A fuse. Definitely check that first--I would think much easier than taking the door apart.

The cabin fuse box is under the carpet in the passenger side, under a panel held in place with some Torx bolts - I don't think they expect us to need to change a fuse in there! But its interesting to explore how beautifully engineered these cars are beneath the surface.

Yeah, I blew a fuse changing the interior light bulbs and had to buy the proper size torx bit. (It's a T30, fyi.) It is beautifully under the carpets. I really can't get over how nicely this car is put together.

How is the carpet held in place? Once you re-install, is it quite secure? Thks

I looked at the manual to see how the fuses match up and did notice that there is a separate fuse for each door. However, that makes me think that it is not a bad fuse because I can operate the driver side window just fine. It is the passenger button that is non-responsive on both driver and passenger doors. But we shall see soon enough. . .

There is a couple of power feeds getting to the door module. Pulling the fuse is a "soft reset" which might work, but physically disconnecting the module is the best way to go to ensure it's properly reset.

I had the exact problem. If you disconnect the battery for a few minutes and then reconnect it should fix it. Don't ask me why but it is simple to do and worked for me.

Okay--I will try that as well. Interestingly, one of the techs at LFSC said that a low battery can cause intermittent failures such as what I am experiencing.
