V8V Bluetooth issues revisited
V8V Bluetooth issues revisited
Just picked up my '07 V8 Vantage on Thursday and am very happy! Still trying to get accustomed to driving a manual again, but getting smoother every day. Anyway, I'm experiencing the poor bluetooth microphone performance that so many other have. According to another post, it is possible that the microphone was reverse wired at the factory. Is there a way to identify if this is the case? My voice recognition seemed to work fine when pairing the phone, so it is only during conversation that the issue occurs. I am using an iPhone 4. Many thanks.
Mine doesn't work so well either--much worse than the BMW I sold. For voice dialing, I have to shout and repeat the numbers several times to get it to recognize what I'm saying. Also, the voice quality on calls is poor, so people at the other end have a hard time hearing me.
I gave up on the Aston's bluetooth and bought a Jawbone bluetooth headset instead. It works much better.

My bluetooth works really well with my Blackberry. No issues at all. Some people have been successful relocating the microphone from above and behind the rear view mirror to closer to the driver side A pillar. Your dealer should be well aware of this issue and office advice.
Good luck.

When you were pairing the phone, was the engine running? I think the voice recognition is very susceptible to background noise. Mine also worked OK for pairing (with the engine off), but not when trying to make a call while driving.
Yes, the engine was running and voice command recognition wasn't a problem.
It may be the phone; I know iPhones have been notorious for having syncing problems. I went through the same with my range rover and finally gave up....

Hmmm... that's possible. I hadn't considered that. I'll have to give it a try with my wife's Blackberry to compare.
I also had some serious issues with the interior Mic - I could hear incoming calls no problem, but nobody could ever hear me. The dealer installed the following mic in 07, resulted in much better sound quality. Unfortunately, the casing only came in cream colour, which I later removed and spray painted black.
Mine has been excellent so far, I'm very happy with it. I usually dial on my iPhone 4, so voice dialing does not apply to me.
But sometimes people have a hard time hearing me, although I can hear them clearly. Can someone show me the location of the stock mic, so I can speak in the general direction.
Also, I try to avoid phone time on my AM, I like to enjoy every second of my new to me car. I usually chat away on my phone when I'm in my M3, for work related stuff.

CJPatel, that's the typical issue that we're all talking about. The mic is in the pod behind the rearview mirror that houses the map lights. I don't usually talk on the phone while I'm driving, but I want people to hear me if they do happen to call.
