My First Aston.

Hello All, I recently purchased a 2009 V8V Roadster in jet black. I have been reading up on the car in this forum and have learned quite a bit. Thank you for all the informative contributions. I recently took out fuse 22 and am enjoying the car quite a bit more.
My only problem so far is that I basically cant see anything when backing up. 10 years ago I may have had the skills to do it, but not today after becoming accustom to back up cameras.
Is the some way to integrate a back up camera into this car? Aftermarket or dealer installed are both acceptable.
I recall having seen one with the display on the factory nav screen.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance,

Your Local Dealer has a solution to offer I think. I remember hearing it is pricey

Enjoy the car!!! Astons are so much fun to have and really are the best kept secret of the exotics.

AM Works has a system available in the UK. Not sure if that system is available in the US or not.

BTW, when I got my first Vantage, I was interested in a rear camera too. However, after I became more familiar/comfortable with the car, I didn't feel like I needed this. Also, I assume there would be some inconvenience in having to wait (after placing the car in reverse) for the sat nav to open and turn on if you didn't already have the sat nav running.

Thank you for the quick responses

Thank you all.
I will be looking into the cost of having the dealer install this system. It may however end up being something I will just have to get used to.
I will report back with my findings.
Best regards-

You should have the rear parking sensors on your car (perhaps the optional front ones too). Its pretty easy to just distance once you get a feel for how the beeps translate to distance.

I do have the sensors, however

I also have the sportshift transmission and it tends to move (I think its called crawl or creep mode) very quickly. At the speed that the car crawls at, the sensors begin beeping no more than 2 seconds before an impact.
My wife will also be using the car and I am actually most concerned about the times that she drives the car. In the meantime, It is winter in the northeast and the car will get very little use until spring. I can deal with this issue over the winter.
Best regards.

CJS,
I am also in the market for a 2009 Vantage. I was hoping to get some advice from you. Did the car you bought have a warranty and did you purchase the extended warranty. Did you buy it from the dealer, and if so did they negotiate much on the price. Any advice for me in my search? Have you heard of any common maintenance issues?
Thanks

Just tapping the brake a little will disengage creep mode. With a little practice you can control how fast creep mode goes. It didn't take long to be able to maneuver in a parking lot without a problem. The only think that is a pain is if you have to back up going up an incline.

Hi AMfan, The car was sold new to the first owner 14 months ago. So I have the benefit of nearly two years of factory warranty. I may consider extended warranty in the future, depending on my experience in the next 2 years. I did buy the car from a dealer, it was a trade up. As for price, I believe it was a fair deal for both parties. I got basically KBB trade value for my car, and then paid very slightly under 100k. car was heavily optioned, and the dealer swapped rear lights for clear. The car had 3k miles on the clock. I probably could have found a car for less, however felt very comfortable with this car. I did this deal sight unseen, and the dealer was very fair, and honest about the condition of the car (which I guess is easy when the car is in great shape)
If you would like to know who helped me, please pm me.
I hope you found this helpful, and I haven't crossed any forum boundaries.
Best regards, CJS

Thanks CJS, what a great looking car. Congrats. I wonder if this is the same car I saw at the Houston dealership in Feb. A 2009 untitled that they were trying to move same rims. I tried to PM you, but since im new as well, I need a little more time and posts. I Will PM you soon. Thanks for the info and the advice. Strong work on getting the lamps swapped, how did you convince him to do that?
Anyway, thanks and I will message you soon

AmFan

It may have been the same car, however this one was first purchased in VA. or NC. I forgot. Im sure dealers swap cars so it is entirely possible. The car sat at dealers for about 20 months before first being titled with 50 miles or so on the clock.
My experience is limited but I believe that in 2009 the standard wheels are the ones that are on my car.
I can be reached at cjs1597@aoldotcom ( replace dot with . )

As for the tail lights, when the negotiation halted, I told them to throw in the lights and you have a deal. I imagine the lights do not cost them much more than $1500 and they must have a way to unload the old red ones they took off for 500-1000. I am just guessing at the numbers but if I am correct it cost them $500-$1000.
I think the clear lights transform he look of the car. Next will be the newer side sills.
Best, CJS
