My '08 Aston has a Chirp??

Anyone have a similar problem? It seems to come from near the front of the engine. It's pretty loud and I can hear it inside with the windows closed. When I first start the engine it lasts for a few minutes. It's gone after the engine if fully warmed-up. Here's a link to the very high-pitched Chirp. Turn your volume up pretty loud to hear it.

it most likely the sound from oil pump on first start up when engine's cold. I haven't noticed it since the oil service.

quite a few of us have had that chirp sound here is the thread previously discussed

The sound is definitly a "Chirp" and not a "ticking sound" as you would hear from valve-tappets. It sounds like its synchronized with the belt, or maybe it's one of the accessories such as the power-steering pump. I'm trying to find out if it's a common problem??

Sounds like a pulley/belt to me. Had mine when I first bought the car. Its a common problem and about $400 to fix at a dealership.

Like everyone else stated here, Its a belt noise. There is a new upated pulley and belt. I would also make sure you dont have an oil leak has this can also cause the belt to squeak.

I had the same exact problem a few months ago. The belt needed to be replaced. The dealership did it for about $300. It's a quick fix nothing to worry about.

Interesting I'll keep a lookout for this also... Is it a known issue with the pulley & fix with the db9 as well?

Thanks A LOT AMFixer, I don't know what we would do without you two guys helping out on this site--a lot of needless worry I suppose.

I don't find any oil drips under the car, so hopefully that is not an issue. However, if there is a leak, where does it usually come from--that is what seal should my dealer carefully check? Also can you give me more information about the "updated pulley and belt"? Is it a good idea to replace both?

No this only applies to V8.

The oil leak is either from the front cover or from the oil seperator.
I would replace both the belt and the pulley. The new pulley has a lip on it to keep alignment of the belt.

Thanks AMFixer--I'll have my mechanic Change both Belt and Pulley and ask my mechanic to check cover and separator closely. Even though it's an '08 it was sold Aug '09 so its still under factory warantee.

If it is under warranty the belt and pulley would be covered. If the was any oil leak it would also be covered under warranty. Are you sure it is still under warranty? If you would like me to check, PM me the last six of your vin. I can not see any personal info, just the car's warranty history and the in-service date.

Amen! Have said it before but it astonishes me how AMFixer and Irish don't have rep numbers through the roof. If not already done, every single owner on this forum should click the rep buttons for both of them!
